Job Description

The Sevier County Sheriff's Office is seeking a dependable, motivated, and service-oriented Operations & Maintenance Technician to help maintain our Administrative Building, Training Facility, and Special Operations Center. This position plays an important role in ensuring our facilities remain clean, safe, functional, and professional for employees and the public. We are looking for an individual who takes pride in their work, demonstrates strong integrity, and is committed to supporting the mission of the Sevier County Sheriff's Office through excellence in facility maintenance and customer service. Position Summary The Operations & Maintenance Technician performs a variety of custodial; maintenance, landscaping, and facility support duties to ensure Sheriff's Office buildings and grounds are properly maintained. Responsibilities include routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, minor repairs, groundskeeping, and assisting with special events and facility projects.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Facility Maintenance & Custodial Services Perform daily cleaning of Sheriff's Office facilities, including: Sweeping Mopping Vacuuming Dusting Trash removal Restroom sanitation Kitchen sanitation Floor buffing and polishing Maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment throughout all assigned facilities. Clean interior and exterior windows and building surfaces. Pressure wash sidewalks, patios, picnic areas, and other exterior structures. Building Maintenance Replace ceiling tiles, floor tiles, air filters, and light bulbs. Perform minor plumbing repairs, including unclogging toilets and addressing basic plumbing issues. Paint interior and exterior walls, structures, and other surfaces. Hang pictures, bulletin boards, signs, and office décor. Complete minor repairs as needed to maintain facility appearance and functionality. Grounds & Exterior Maintenance Maintain landscaping and grounds surrounding Sheriff's Office facilities. Assist with parking lot and sidewalk maintenance, including seasonal winterization activities. Help maintain outdoor equipment and storage areas. Preventive Maintenance Perform routine preventive maintenance according to established schedules. Maintain maintenance logs and work records. Assist contractors performing scheduled services such as: Pest control Other contracted facility service Inventory & Supplies Order, receive, and organize custodial and maintenance supplies. Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate supplies are maintained. Special Events Assist with Sheriff's Office community events and public functions. Set up meeting rooms and event spaces. Assist with seasonal decorating, signage, displays, and special projects.
Minimum Qualifications Applicants must:
Possess a High School Diploma or GED. Possess a valid Tennessee Driver License. Have reliable transportation to and from work. Be able to travel weekly between Sheriff's Office facilities using a personally owned vehicle. Possess basic hand tools necessary to perform routine maintenance duties (including screwdrivers, wrenches, socket set, hammer, tape measure, utility knife, cordless drill, etc.).
Successfully complete:
Criminal background investigation Drug screening Pre-employment physical examination Preferred Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess: Experience in building or facility maintenance. General knowledge of custodial practices and building systems. Strong organizational and time management skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities. Physical ability to lift, climb, bend, stand for extended periods, and perform manual labor in varying weather conditions. Schedule Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. One-hour lunch/breaks period Occasional schedule adjustments may be required for special events or operational needs.
