MAINTENANCE WORKER PAY PLAN
105 - $ 29,926.00 minimum salary
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
: The overall purpose and general responsibility Under supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, will perform such functions as general landscaping, building maintenance and grounds keeping. Is a non-supervisory position. Will include the performance of hard manual labor tasks and may include other tasks such as; daily raking of the beach with John Deer tractor and empty trash barrels with garbage truck, picking up litter from beaches and park grounds.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
: General point of contact Reports and correlates projects with Maintenance Supervisor, Communicates with the public, park guests, concessionaires, office clerks and other co-workers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
: The fundamental duties and tasks which define the job Performs general landscape duties such as grass mowing, weeding, edging, water landscaped areas, rake leaves, palm tree and plant trimming, and planting trees and plants; Landscaping maintenance, which include; emptying trash cans, trash removal, litter pick-up around park grounds, parking lot and pavilions; Responsible for restroom maintenance; Load and unload material from truck for landscaping, etc.; Sweeping and washing down sidewalks, pavilions, shade structures, boardwalk, dune walkovers and parking areas, removing sand from pavilions areas and parking lots; Rakes the beach, cleans bar-b-que pit areas and wash down picnic tables; Makes simple repairs to boardwalk cable railing, equipment and tools; Responsible for herbicide/pesticide control; Responsible for carrying out duties assigned in accordance with the Cameron County Park System Hurricane Plan such as storing trash barrels and picnic tables and reporting for duty upon area being deemed safe to return after storm making landfall; Beach Cleaning; picking up litter from beaches and park grounds. Sweeping and shoveling sand from roadways and sidewalks; Assists the Construction crew when necessary; Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience :
A high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate preferred. Must have experience in custodianship and must enjoy working with the public. Licenses and/or
Certifications :
Valid State of Texas Driver's License Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Must be able to follow oral instructions. Must be able to use power and hand tools, to perform strenuous work in the outdoor. Ability to communicate effectively, both in English and Spanish. Must be able to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with other employees.
Physical Demands :
Physical requirements may include lifting /carrying up to 50 lbs. Subject to handling, siting walking, standing, bending, reaching and twisting to perform the essential job functions.
Working Condition :
(describe working environment and other conditions of employment.) On special emergencies or occasional projects may require working in other county parks as assigned. Working conditions are primarily outdoors. Will be required to drive county owned vehicles and other equipment as needed. Weekend, Holiday, and evening work required. This position is subject to a six (6) month probationary period prior to Civil Service eligibility; Must submit to a drug and alcohol evaluation.
