Job Description

Street Maintenance Worker I:
PRIMARY DUTY
Efficiently performs the work necessary for the effective maintenance and repair of city streets, parking lots, drainage facilities, and rights-of-way according to established quality standards and procedures.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of basic math skills. Knowledge of use of hand tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of streets. Knowledge of material used in street maintenance operations. Knowledge of safe handling of traffic in construction and maintenance areas and various operating characteristics of heavy equipment used in street maintenance and repair. Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of equipment to identify and resolve minor technical issues. Ability to work safely and take initiative. Ability to work after hours and on weekends. Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to maintain positive, effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. No experience necessary-entry level position.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED
Must have a Class "C" Texas driver's license with good driving record and be able to obtain a class "A" Texas drivers license within 6 months from hire date. Complete work zone safety course within 1 year from hire date
Street Maintenance Worker II:
PRIMARY DUTY

Street Maintenance Worker III:
PRIMARY DUTY
Proficiently operate heavy equipment used in the maintenance and repair of streets and drainage system. Efficiently performs the work necessary for the effective maintenance and repair of city streets, parking lots, drainage facilities, and rights-of-way according to established quality standards and procedures. This position also trains personnel in repair and in safe and proper use of heavy equipment.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of basic math skills. Knowledge of use of hand tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of streets. Knowledge of material used in street maintenance operations. Knowledge of safe handling of traffic in construction and maintenance areas and various operating characteristics of heavy equipment used in street maintenance and repair. Ability to perform troubleshooting of equipment to identify and resolve technical issues. Ability to work safely and take initiative. Ability to work after hours and on weekends. Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs. Good communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to maintain positive, effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public. General knowledge of principles of supervision, training and evaluating employee performance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. Three (3) years' experience in street/drainage maintenance. Two (2) years' experience operating heavy equipment.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED
Texas Class "A" Driver's License. Complete work zone safety course within 1 year from hire date.
