Day Shift Help for . Supervises a group of maintenance and/or clerical employees responsible for providing a safe driving thoroughfare within a designated geographical area. Reports to a Maintenance Section Supervisor at a maintenance section with a rank sum ratio in accordance with the published rank sum. Work requires responding to emergency notification on an as needed basis. Work requires contact with the public. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Essential Duties:
Assistant Maintenance Section Supervisor I or IIAssigns and oversees the work of section and contracted crews; ensures all projects follow established safety guidelines.
Assists in budget preparation for the section.
Assists with planning, coordinating and implementing emergency response to inclement weather, accidents, and hazardousspills affecting area roadways.
Handles public complaints.
Inspects road conditions, work-in-progress and work completed by the crews and contractors.
May operate light and heavy roadway equipment.
Oversees scheduling of equipment, material and personnel necessary for section projects.
Responsible for operations of section in absence of supervisor.
Trains employees on the use of equipment and procedures.
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
