  • Starting pay per hour for Maintenance Worker is 18.40 to 22.08 depending on experience.
  • Additional 1.25 for ability to demonstrate the operation of Light equipment, demonstrate MUTCD knowledge, and 2 years of experience in field

50 for TDA Under general supervision, performs semiskilled general labor work in cleaning and maintenance of City parks, facilities, buildings, grounds, and other areas, in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs semiskilled general labor and manual labor tasks to maintain parks, facilities, grounds, playgrounds, sports fields, and City buildings as directed; duties may vary according to job assignment and training. Inspects parks grounds and facilities for damage, hazards and vandalism; performs basic parks and building maintenance duties and makes repairs as needed to maintain the appearance of City property; follows all safety rules and regulations to minimize risk of accidents. Maintains right-of-way, sports fields, landscaping and other City grounds; sweeps and cleans parks, facilities, grounds and adjacent areas; operates basic equipment and performs manual labor tasks, including weed control, mowing, and watering; cleans up trash and debris; trims trees and shrubs; loads and hauls materials. Performs semi-skilled building maintenance duties as directed. Inspects and maintains assigned equipment and small tools for proper operating condition; identifies and reports mechanical problems requiring additional repair. Responds as directed to perform emergency cleaning and maintenance work as required. Enforces City rules and regulations, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries. Operates a variety of trucks and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; supervises setup and teardown and other tasks for special City events as directed. Cross trains in all maintenance tasks; assists with the training and cross-training of work crews. R esponds outside of normally scheduled work hours in response to special events, natural disasters, emergencies, or critical incidents as determined by the City. Maintains the integrity, professionalism, values and goals of the City by assuring that all rules and regulations are followed, and that accountability and public trust are preserved. Cooperates with co-workers professionally to accomplish work efficiently and effectively. Has regular, predictable attendance; attendance is a factor in continued employment with the City. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND one year of landscaping and maintenance work experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.
Required Knowledge of:
City policies and procedures. Tools and equipment used in the maintenance of municipal parks and facilities. Occupational hazards and safety precautions. Customer service standards and protocols.
Required Skill in:
Operating and maintaining power and hand tools, equipment and vehicles according to standard operating and safety procedures. Performing heavy manual labor including lifting and carrying heavy objects. Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures. Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers. Effective communication, both verbal and written. Physical Demands /
Work Environment:
Work is performed indoors and outdoors at parks and facilities throughout the City; required to perform moderate physical work and lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
