Must be at least 18 years of age Must possess a current, valid Texas driver's license
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to perform a variety of construction, maintenance, and landscaping tasks
Basic Function:
Performs a range of maintenance and repair tasks in and around the buildings and grounds of Hill Country Youth Ranch. Duties include minor repairs, preventive maintenance, landscaping, and upkeep of equipment and facilities.
Note:
This position is subject to mandatory drug testing. Employment is contingent upon acceptable results from a drug screen administered by the agency.
Primary Responsibilities & Tasks:
1. Immediately report any suspected abuse or neglect to the Executive Director or designee. Cleans and repairs equipment such as beds, fans, vacuum cleaners, motors, heaters, air conditioners, and lawn care tools. Repairs clogged sinks, commodes, drains, and faucets. Replaces light bulbs and performs minor electrical repairs. Cleans, lubricates, and stores tools and equipment; performs minor adjustments and repairs. Performs basic carpentry repairs (e.g., doors, locks, windows, furniture). Paints and maintains the interior and exterior of buildings and facilities. Assists skilled maintenance technicians as needed. May assist in teaching basic maintenance and groundskeeping skills to children. Washes windows; may buff and maintain floors. Mows lawns, rakes leaves, weeds gardens, trims shrubs, and sweeps walkways. Assists other staff in supporting children and facility operations as needed. Detects, corrects, or reports safety hazards that may pose risks to children or staff. Performs landscaping and plant maintenance, including greenhouse care, fertilizing, transplanting, and tree replacement. Participates in in-service training sessions. 16. Safely transport children using agency-provided vehicles. 17. Model responsible, mature behavior in all interactions; follow HCYR code of conduct and policies. Work assigned schedule and adhered to Hill Country Youth Ranch's timekeeping policy Performs other duties as assigned. Will need to be on call once a month. Must have our cell phone and answer it when you have it.
