Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and bilingual Assistant Maintenance Technician specializing in HVAC systems to join our team. Duties Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, refrigeration units, boilers, air conditioning, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal operation. Troubleshoot equipment issues using schematics, electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters, and mechanical knowledge to identify root causes swiftly. Repair or replace HVAC components including ductwork, fans, filters, thermostats, and refrigeration equipment while adhering to safety standards. Assist with HVAC system installation projects, ensuring proper setup of mechanical and electrical connections following design specifications. Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and building automation system diagrams to facilitate accurate repairs and installations. Conduct plumbing repairs related to HVAC systems and ensure all electrical systems are functioning correctly through electrical diagnostics. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, parts used, and system performance logs for accountability and future reference. Qualifications Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (or relevant second language) for effective communication with diverse teams and clients. Proven construction experience with a focus on mechanical systems repair and building maintenance. Service technician experience working on HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) systems. Strong understanding of schematics, HVAC design principles, electrical diagnostics, plumbing, refrigeration systems including ammonia refrigeration if applicable. Hands-on experience with HVAC system repair, installation, troubleshooting equipment issues using hand tools and diagnostic meters such as ohmmeters. Mechanical knowledge related to HVAC system maintenance including boilers, air conditioning units, building automation systems (BAS), electrical systems. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to operate company vehicles safely. Certifications such as EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) refrigerant handling certification are required; additional certifications in electrical or mechanical trades are a plus.
