Position Summary Meals on Wheels Collin County (MOWCC) is seeking an experienced, dependable, and skilled Part-Time Facilities Staff member to support the daily maintenance, repair, organization, and upkeep of MOWCC facilities, grounds, warehouse, equipment, and tools. This is a hands-on position for an experienced handyman or facilities maintenance professional who takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and functional work environment. The position requires practical repair skills, attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing maintenance needs. The Part-Time Facilities Staff member will assist with general building repairs, groundskeeping, warehouse shelving and organization, equipment maintenance, tool inventory, vendor coordination, and other facilities-related responsibilities that support MOWCC's daily operations and mission of serving Collin County seniors. Essential Duties & Responsibilities 1. Building Maintenance & Repairs Perform routine building maintenance, repairs, and general handyman services. Complete minor plumbing, carpentry, painting, drywall, door, lock, and fixture repairs as qualified. Identify building maintenance concerns and promptly report safety hazards or major repair needs. Assist with preventive maintenance to reduce equipment failures and facility disruptions. Maintain the cleanliness, functionality, and professional appearance of MOWCC facilities. Assist with furniture assembly, office reconfigurations, and minor facility improvement projects. Ensure maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with organizational procedures. 2. Groundskeeping & Exterior Maintenance Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of MOWCC's exterior grounds, walkways, entrances, and surrounding areas. Perform basic landscaping, mowing, trimming, weeding, and debris removal as needed. Monitor exterior areas for safety hazards, maintenance concerns, and needed repairs. Assist with seasonal groundskeeping and weather-related facility preparation. Maintain outdoor tools and equipment in good working condition. 3. Warehouse Organization & Shelving Organize and maintain warehouse storage areas, shelving, tools, equipment, and supplies. Ensure warehouse items are properly stored, labeled, accessible, and maintained. Assist with the installation, assembly, and maintenance of warehouse shelving and storage systems. Maintain orderly storage areas to promote safety, operational efficiency, and effective use of space. Assist with moving, organizing, and staging equipment, supplies, and materials. Identify damaged shelving, unsafe storage conditions, and equipment requiring repair. Support inventory organization and the proper storage of facilities-related materials. 4. Equipment, Tools & Inventory Management Maintain, inspect, and organize MOWCC tools, maintenance equipment, and supplies. Perform basic equipment troubleshooting and minor repairs within the employee's qualifications. Maintain an orderly tool storage area and ensure tools are properly secured after use. Notify the Facilities & Transportation Manager when tools, equipment, or supplies require replacement or repair. Assist with equipment setup, relocation, and storage. Ensure equipment is used safely and appropriately. 5. Vendor Coordination & Repair Support Assist with coordinating facility maintenance, repairs, and vendor service visits. Communicate maintenance needs and repair updates to the Facilities & Transportation Manager. Assist vendors with access to designated work areas and provide relevant information regarding maintenance requests. Help monitor repair progress and communicate outstanding maintenance needs. Support the documentation of completed repairs, service visits, and outstanding work orders. Obtain approval from the Facilities & Transportation Manager or designated leadership before engaging vendors, authorizing repairs, or making purchases. 6. Safety, Compliance & General Support Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment throughout MOWCC facilities. Follow organizational safety policies, procedures, and applicable maintenance requirements. Promptly report facility hazards, damaged equipment, and unsafe working conditions. Properly store tools, chemicals, maintenance supplies, and equipment. Assist with facility preparation for organizational events, meetings, and special projects. Support other facilities-related duties as assigned by the Facilities & Transportation Manager. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in facilities maintenance, handyman services, building repairs, groundskeeping, warehouse maintenance, or a related field preferred. Demonstrated experience performing general building repairs and routine maintenance. Working knowledge of common hand tools, power tools, maintenance equipment, and repair materials. Experience organizing warehouse shelving, storage areas, tools, and equipment. Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and identify when specialized vendor support is necessary. Ability to work independently, manage assigned tasks, and complete work within established timelines. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Reliable, punctual, professional, and committed to maintaining a safe and functional workplace. Physical Requirements The position requires the ability to: Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical maintenance tasks for extended periods. Lift, carry, push, or pull supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Safely operate common hand tools, power tools, and groundskeeping equipment for which the employee is trained and authorized. Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Safely access warehouse shelving and designated maintenance areas using approved equipment. Work Schedule This is a part-time, hands-on position. The work schedule and weekly hours will be established based on organizational needs. Occasional flexibility may be required to support facility repairs, maintenance projects, weather-related needs, or special organizational events.
