Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and diligent Shop Hand to join our shop team. This energetic role involves supporting the daily operations of our shop specializing in industrial protective systems. The Shop Hand will assist preparing metal surfaces, operates abrasive blasting equipment under supervision, and performs general facility labor. Key duties include surface prep, equipment maintenance, and general shop assistance.

Responsibilities Surface Preparation:

Operate sandblasting or abrasive media equipment to remove rust, mill scale, paint, and dirt from steel and metal parts.

Masking and Racking:

Cover sensitive parts that should not be blasted and hang, rack, or move parts into staging areas.

General Labor:

Assist welders, fabricators, or painters, grind rough edges, and clean up blast media from finished items.

Shop Maintenance:

Sweep floors, empty media waste, maintain tools, and keep the work area safe and organized. Qualifications Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly, stand or bend for long periods, and tolerate a loud or dusty industrial environment. Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Often an entry-level role requiring no prior experience, though basic knowledge or a high school diploma is preferred. Forklift operation and basic mechanical aptitude are a plus. Strong attention to detail.

Pay:

$14.00 - $16.00 per hour
