In this role, you will perform semi-skilled general labor work in cleaning and maintaining City buildings and basic equipment maintenance duties.Your responsibilities will include:
Performing custodial, janitorial, and minor maintenance duties in such a manner that high levels of cleanliness are maintained. Following all safety rules and regulations to minimize risk of accidents and enhance the safety of employees and visitors. Working on assigned projects and making appropriate decisions based on work experience; duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills; notifying supervisor of repair and maintenance issues beyond the scope of authority. Performing basic repairs, preventive maintenance and component replacement on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems; working with Building Maintenance Technician and Building Maintenance Supervisor on major repair projects. Cleaning grounds of trash and debris; maintaining grounds with mowing and weeding; treats grounds for weeds. Assisting in all aspects of site special event and program set-ups and logistical issues. Using proper safety precautions in all work performed, reporting all security, emergency, safety, and maintenance situations promptly. Performing routine cleaning, restroom sanitation, floor care and trash disposal in assigned City facilities. Cleaning up spills and unsafe conditions in a timely manner according to procedures. Inspecting and maintaining assigned custodial equipment and small tools for proper operating condition; completing minor repairs on cleaning equipment as needed. Operating vehicles, equipment, and carts in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; identifying and reporting mechanical problems requiring additional repair. Opening, closing, locking, and unlocking facilities as needed; setting up and taking down meeting and event rooms; assisting with setup, teardown, and other tasks for special events as directed. Completing daily work log, incident and accident reports, and requisitions for supplies and materials. Responding as directed to perform emergency cleaning work as required. Serving in on-call capacity for night, after-hours, and weekend/holiday periods when events and rental activities are occurring. Assuring that all hazardous materials are cleaned up in a timely manner and controlled according to City policies and procedures. Other duties assigned by supervisor for the upkeep and maintenance of city facilities.Hours:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with some nights, weekends, and holidays. Regular and timely attendance is required. Operating and maintaining tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner. Following and maintaining safety standards. Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures. Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers and the public.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent; and one year of experience in building maintenance work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Required Licenses or Certifications:
Must possess a valid Texas Driver License with a good driving record. Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure. Physical Demands /Work Environment:
Work is performed indoors and outdoors; subject to extremes of weather including but not limited to heat, cold, wind, dust, and moisture. Work requires a moderate level of physical work to include but not limited to walking, lifting, and carrying. Work requires lifting from floor up to 50 pounds.
