Job Description

This position involves performing semi-skilled construction, maintenance, and repair work within street and parks facilities. The employee is responsible for the general maintenance of all recreation areas and performs work safely across all sections of the Public Works Department. To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to effectively carry out each essential function. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for the position. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and the employee may be required to perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or other management.
Qualifications:
The following duties are representative of the work performed. Other related duties may be assigned. Mows grass, edges curbs and sidewalks, weed eats, and maintains right-of-way areas. Maintains and repairs drainage ways, curbs, gutters, cleans storm drains, structures, digs ditches and trenches. Paints pavement markings and striping. Installation and maintenance of street and traffic signs. Operates a variety of landscaping and street maintenance equipment. Use of hand tools and equipment to patch street surfaces, dig and fill holes and ditches, and handle various materials associated with street and infrastructure maintenance work. Cleans and disinfects restrooms in community buildings, replenishes paper supplies and soap as necessary, clears clogged drains in sinks and toilets. Collect brushes and debris from streets and load materials into trucks for proper disposal. Assists with setting up community centers for various events, moves furniture, equipment, and supplies. Performs landscaping maintenance duties such as picking up trash, leaves and debris from sidewalks and parking lots. Performs routine repairs on building fixtures, furniture and /or structures, such as replacing light bulbs and fuses, replacing parts, etc., assist with painting. Assists with maintenance of the public parks and splash pad. Clean, maintain, and safeguard hand tools and related construction and maintenance equipment to prevent loss or damage. Perform assigned duties outdoors in all weather conditions, with some exposure to unavoidable hazards associated with moving machinery and construction activities during the normal work schedule.
