Job Description
Maintenance Helper's purpose is to support maintenance and management in completing tasks designed to reduce downtime, costs, quality defects, and safety issues. The Maintenance Helper will work directly with maintenance personnel, improving maintenance response time and repair time while simultaneously improving his/her own maintenance skills. Position Responsibilities may include; Routine maintenance on operating equipment at all Logistics facilities. Perform basic repairs to walls, dock doors, forklifts, and office work areas. Perform general cleaning in office work areas and the warehouse. Paint as needed, and perform basic plumbing maintenance and repair, and welding as needed. Help operations with rework and unloading ocean containers Follow all safety policies and protocols Perform other duties as assigned by

Works within well-defined instructions Uses established procedures and works under supervision to perform assigned tasks Work is closely supervised
Knowledge and Skills:
Mechanical skills, basic maintenance skills including welding Ability to learn how to perform routine maintenance on lift equipment and dock doors Employee must have the capacity to learn and perform basic carpentry and general plumbing Able to safely, effectively and efficiently use various maintenance tools and equipment including manual and automatic tools Ability to accurately use measuring tools and good math skills ( addition, subtraction, etc) Good eye hand coordination May be required to operate lift equipment - must pass in-house training and certification Basic knowledge of Windows computer systems; MS Office - Outlook, Word, etc. Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to practice safe work habits, follow proper LOTO and other OSHA requirements Must be able to read and understand written and verbal policy, instruction and directions in English Ability to apply good judgement, strong work ethics and integrity on the job and deliver the desired results Ability to establish positive work relationships and work well in team environment
Experience:
Forklift certification desired but not required Prefer prior experience in a similar role Prefer experience in a manufacturing / warehouse environment
Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required In-house training and certification for operating lift trucks may be required

Working Environment:
Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations. High volume manufacturing environment with forklift traffic. May have higher volume in areas - hearing protection required. Must wear required PPE.
