Streets Maintenance Worker (I-III)

08/02 Provo City is looking for a full-time Streets Maintenance Worker to perform equipment operation and manual work in Streets Maintenance in Public Works. This position involves repairing and maintaining streets and roads. For more information about benefits What are the main duties? Patch holes in streets with asphalt. Operate a variety of road maintenance equipment. Perform minor repair and maintenance work on the following equipment: snowplows and spreader, water trucks, street sweeper, vacuum trucks, asphalt rollers and trailers, pavers, front-end loaders, fork lifts, ten-wheelers, jack hammers, compressors. Operate crack sealing and weed sprayer equipment. Perform traffic safety functions including serving as flagger. Fill dirt and road surfaces to grade specification. Maintain dirt road surfaces, shoulders, and parking lot. Lay asphalt to specifications with paver. Perform demolition work. Perform traffic safety functions including the manufacture and installation of control devices and operation of protective and marking devices. Clean spills on roads of commercial waste or at accident scenes. Report areas of City property requiring attention. Respond to the public's needs and assist the public within the general rules of the department. Perform the work of lower-level Street Maintenance Workers as needed and perform other related duties as required. What are the minimum qualifications?
Streets Maintenance Worker I:
1 year of general equipment operation and/or maintenance experience or other job-related experience.
Streets Maintenance Worker II:
2 years of experience as an Apprentice Streets Maintenance Worker; or 3 years of general equipment operation and/or maintenance experience.
Streets Maintenance Worker III:
2 years of experience as a Streets Maintenance Worker; or 5 years of comparable, job-related experience.
Streets Maintenance Worker IV:
3 years of experience as a Streets Maintenance Worker Ill OR 6 years of comparable experience in a related field. Utah LTAP Road Master (Level 2) Cert. For all levels, a valid, lawful Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) is required and an endorsement of N - Tanker, Flagger Certificate, and Forklift Certificate is required within probationary period.
