Position Summary The Maintenance Assistant supports the upkeep and reliability of shop equipment, tools, and facilities so production keeps running safely and on schedule. This role assists our Maintenance Supervisor with routine service, repairs, and preventive maintenance across the shop. We will train the right person — a strong work ethic and willingness to learn matter most, and prior experience in equipment service, weld equipment, or electrical work is a plus. Responsibilities Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on shop equipment, machinery, and facility systems Assist with troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic equipment issues Support upkeep of welding equipment, including basic service and inspection of welders and related tools Complete assigned maintenance work orders and keep accurate service records Assist with lubrication, cleaning, and adjustment of moving parts and equipment components Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and facility environment Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime Order and track parts, supplies, and tools needed for maintenance work Follow all safety procedures and lockout/tagout protocols during maintenance activities Assist other departments with general facility repairs as needed Qualifications Experience with equipment service or general mechanical maintenance Familiarity with welding equipment (setup, basic service, troubleshooting) is a plus Basic electrical knowledge or experience is a plus Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn new skills Ability to use hand and power tools safely and correctly Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks throughout a shift Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail High school diploma or equivalent preferred What We Offer On-the-job training and opportunities to build mechanical, electrical, and welding-equipment skills Competitive pay based on experience Full-time day-shift schedule A team-oriented shop environment with over 50 years of fabrication experience Opportunities for growth within the maintenance department
