Role:
The Maintenance for our Childcare Centers plays a critical role in ensuring that the facilities are safe, clean, and fully operational to provide a nurturing environment for children and staff. This position involves performing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and timely repairs of building systems, equipment, and playground structures. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards and addressing them promptly to comply with health and safety regulations. The Maintenance man collaborates closely with childcare center management to prioritize maintenance tasks and support the smooth daily operation of the facility. Ultimately, this role contributes to creating a secure and welcoming space that supports the well-being and development of children in the center.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience in general maintenance, preferably in a childcare, educational, or similar facility setting. Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry systems. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and safety regulations. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in facility maintenance or a related trade. Experience working in environments with children or knowledge of childcare facility regulations. Familiarity with OSHA standards and local childcare licensing requirements. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
Conduct regular inspections of the facility, including classrooms, kitchens, restrooms, HVAC systems, electrical and plumbing systems, and outdoor play areas. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing filters, repairing fixtures, painting, and minor carpentry work to maintain the facility's appearance and functionality. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to minimize disruption to childcare operations and ensure safety. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs to comply with regulatory requirements and support facility management. Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or services beyond the scope of routine maintenance. Ensure all maintenance work adheres to local, state, and federal safety and health regulations specific to childcare environments. Assist in setting up and maintaining safety equipment and signage throughout the facility.

The Maintenance man uses technical skills daily to diagnose and repair issues with electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, ensuring all equipment functions safely and efficiently. Communication skills are essential for coordinating with childcare staff and external vendors to schedule repairs and minimize disruption. Attention to detail is critical when performing inspections and documenting maintenance activities to comply with safety standards and regulations. Time management skills help prioritize tasks effectively, balancing routine maintenance with urgent repairs. Additionally, problem-solving abilities enable the technician to quickly identify root causes of facility issues and implement lasting solutions that support a safe environment for children and staff.
