Job Description

The Town is seeking a Maintenance Worker for our streets department to perform unskilled and semiskilled work in a variety of public works, parks, landscape and utilities construction, maintenance and repair projects. The position is primarily street and sidewalk work and requires after-hours work in snow and ice removal. The successful candidate must have a valid driver's license. A Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement is preferred.

Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:00pm All new employees must satisfactorily complete a background check. A conditional offer of employment may then be made contingent upon the successful completion of a physical exam that includes alcohol and drug testing. Perform a variety of unskilled and semiskilled manual labor tasks in the maintenance and repair of public facilities, buildings, grounds, streets, utilities, and related facilities. Spreads asphalt and patches street surface; assist with concrete work. Assist with snow and ice removal. Assist other crews when needed. Clean up debris from streets and sidewalks. Available After hours Perform related tasks as required.
Requirements Education:
High School Diploma or GED Experience:
Some experience in heavy manual work Valid driver's license CDL Class B with air brakes endorsement required at time of hire or within six months of employment Required within six months of employment: Flagging Certification Pavement Marking Certification Work Zone Certification First Aid & CPR Qualifications Street drainage, street signs, buildings, grounds, parks, landscape areas, and related construction, maintenance, and repair procedures Traffic laws and regulations Safe driving practices Occupational hazards of the work Operation of basic hand tools used for the job Communicate in a clear and concise manner both orally and in writing. Prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner. Be organized and capable of multi-tasking Perform manual labor for extended periods of time. Follow directions. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the Public.
Work Environment Outdoors:
The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, and atmospheric conditions. Physical Demands This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects Work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
