Job Description

Perform general maintenance with a strong background in grounds maintenance, such as trash removal, trimming and pruning trees, cutting grass, putting down fertilizer and herbicide under the supervision of an accredited person.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Perform all types of general maintenance independently and under supervision

Operate and maintain mowing equipment in a safe manner

Deliver supplies to schools as directed

Be able to perform job duties in a safe manner

Be able to perform minor first aid

Perform snow removal duties

Operate small tools and test equipment

Maintain tools and vehicles assigned

Be able to work varied shifts to accommodate building occupancy.

May be required to work as a helper to perform duties that are not related to their strength or field they work in on a daily basis.

Notifies supervisor concerning needs for repairs.

Performs other duties that may be needed for smooth operation of the school as assigned by the building administrator or division facilities and maintenance coordinator.

Education and/or

Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to follow operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors, students, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to deal with problems involving a few unforeseen variables in normal situations. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Must pass a drug screening test, criminal records check, Child Protective Services check, and any other health-related screenings or background checks required by law, regulation, or School Board policy.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and stand; reach with hands and arms; use hands to handle or feel; walk a distance of up to several hundred feet at a time, stoop, kneel, and crouch, crawl, climb, or balance, as well as to taste or smell. The employee must be capable of climbing ladders and stairs necessary for maintenance operations, working off ladders, and working in confined spaces and awkward positions. The employee must be able to operate various hand and power tools used in maintenance operations. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
