$21.00 - $23.00/hour depending on experienceJob Summary:
The Stable Maintenance position assists the Stable Manager to ensure the operations of the equestrian program and the needs of the physical plant are being attended to in the most effective and efficient means possible. Stable Maintenance is an integral part of the operations of the barn and is responsible to identify physical plant defects and/or needs and report them to the Stable Manager. The Stable Maintenance position may be required to work on evenings and weekends during special events and/or in the event of staff shortages.Key Responsibilities:
- Ability to operate School tractors, trucks, equipment and horse trailers
- Responsible for daily and weekly barn chores including, but not limited to, maintaining arena footing by watering and dragging, water trough cleaning and filling, scheduling and storing bedding deliveries and manure removal, hay placement in paddocks, round bale placement in fields, trash removal, supervising drop off of bulk deliveries, cleaning and sweeping common areas in the stable such as hay bays and main aisle • Maintaining rotating schedule and handling unplanned repair requests to sustain the cleanliness of the grounds and proper working order of the facilities including, but not limited to, mowing and weed eating, rotating paddock clean up by dragging to decrease manure build up as well as removing old hay, rocks and debris, fencing repairs, opening and closing fields for seasonal rest periods • Executing special projects including, but not limited to, set up and take down of equipment for horse shows hosted at Foxcroft, additional clean up before events such as raking near barn entry ways, power washing stalls and barn areas, painting, and other projects to enhance the facilities • Coordinate with the Operations team to schedule usage of shared equipment.
- Schedule, as assigned by the Stable Manager, specific deliveries and be on site to receive deliveries and notify security of these events
- In collaboration with the Stable Manager, ensure the physical plant is free of defects and submit work orders as needed for repairs No job description can anticipate all responsibilities as such; there may be other assigned duties.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma and minimum 3-5-years' experience as a well-regarded professional in the equine industry and/or farm management
- Must have a valid drivers license
- General knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions associated with work
- Must have experience using a variety of equipment including but not limited to mowers (push and zero turns), weed whacker, farm tractor and necessary equipment
- Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong customer-service orientation
- Be part of an evening/weekend Maintenance on call rotation. Residing on property preferred, and interaction with the school community essential. Housing would be available.
