The Building Maintenance Worker, General plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, appearance, and functionality of campus facilities. This position is responsible for performing routine repairs and general maintenance work across a variety of trades, including basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and custodial support. The successful candidate will demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to addressing facility-related needs. Responsibilities Perform general building maintenance duties, including painting, patching, and minor repairs to walls, doors, windows, and fixtures. Assist with basic plumbing and electrical tasks, such as unclogging drains, replacing light bulbs, and repairing switches or outlets. Respond to and complete work orders in a timely and professional manner. Support event setups and breakdowns, including moving furniture and equipment. Conduct routine inspections of assigned areas to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards. Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in clean and safe condition. Follow safety procedures and guidelines at all times. Provide assistance during inclement weather, including snow and ice removal. Assist other skilled trades staff as needed. Participate in on-call rotation and be available for after-hours emergencies or university closures. Education High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of 2 years of experience in general building maintenance or related field. Must be able to work in all weather conditions—including rain, sleet, or snow—and be available during various holidays and weekends as scheduled or needed. Must be able to lift 30 pounds and perform physical labor, including climbing ladders and working in confined spaces. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
