Job Description

A maintenance worker is responsible for the upkeep and repair of facilities, equipment, and grounds. They perform routine inspections, troubleshoot mechanical issues, fix plumbing and electrical fixtures, and manage preventative maintenance schedules to ensure a safe, operational, and clean environment. In addition, they become part of our install team installing Window Treatment, blinds in customers houses and installation of stage curtains in various schools, and theaters.
Key Responsibilities Facility Upkeep:
Perform minor fixes such as repairing drywall, fixing broken locks, painting, and servicing doors, across 4 facilities.
Systems Maintenance:
Inspect and troubleshoot basic plumbing, electrical (switches, outlets), and HVAC systems, and replace components as needed.
Preventative Maintenance:
Conduct routine checks on machinery, test safety systems (like fire alarms), and log maintenance tasks.
Groundskeeping:
Maintain the exterior of the property, including lawn mowing, trash collection, and minor landscaping.
Collaboration:
Assist outside contractors and work alongside facilities managers to complete larger renovation or repair projects.
Installations:
Install and service window blinds in customers' homes, and curtain installations in schools and theaters.
Requirements and Skills Technical Knowledge:
Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. Window blinds and stage curtains.
Physical Stamina:
Manual dexterity and the ability to lift heavy loads, climb ladders, and stand or walk for extended periods.
Tool Proficiency:
Experience using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
Organization:
Ability to manage multiple work orders, track supply inventories, and maintain maintenance logs.
Customer Relations:
Must be neat and clean along with customer relations skills while working in customers home installing blinds and window treatments. Reports to Vice President & General Manager at James River Audio Visual services in Toano Virginia. Company van and some tools provided. Pay range $23.00 - $25.00 per hour with benefits after 90 days to include Insurance, 401k plans, dental insurance and PTO. Room for advancement within the company. Occasional travel will be required. Training provided for Window treatment and stage curtain installation.
