Role:
The Maintenance Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the upkeep and smooth operation of facilities and equipment within an organization. This position involves assisting with routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting minor issues, and ensuring that all work areas meet safety and operational standards. The Maintenance Assistant works closely with the maintenance team to perform inspections, carry out repairs, and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities. By proactively identifying potential problems and responding promptly, this role helps minimize downtime and extends the lifespan of equipment and infrastructure. Ultimately, the Maintenance Assistant contributes to creating a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment that supports the overall productivity of the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards. Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in a maintenance or facilities support role. Familiarity with preventive maintenance procedures and safety regulations. Basic certification in electrical or mechanical maintenance. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Responsibilities:
Assist in performing routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting machinery and equipment. Support the maintenance team in diagnosing and repairing minor mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues. Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify potential maintenance needs or safety hazards. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all maintenance activities. Assist with inventory management by tracking supplies and notifying supervisors when replenishment is needed. Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and support emergency maintenance requests as needed.
