This position oversees the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of CRNA properties, ensuring facilities, vehicles, and assets are properly maintained and meet all legal, health, and safety requirements, while supporting the Plant Operations Director, leading the organization's health and safety program, reducing workplace hazards, and providing administrative support to Plant Operations initiatives.

JOB DUTIES

Provide leadership and direct supervision to assigned Maintenance staff, including performance management, training, and development. Develop and implement individualized training plans to ensure staff are properly trained and operations are conducted safely and efficiently. Oversee the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of CRNA facilities, grounds, vehicles, and infrastructure. Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance, safety, and compliance issues, and ensure preventative maintenance schedules are developed, maintained, and documented for all building systems and related infrastructure. Assist with grounds maintenance activities, including snow and ice removal from CRNA properties, as needed.

• Make recommendations regarding repair versus replacement of equipment and infrastructure.
• Be available during, before, and after regular work hours to address operational or emergency needs.

Coordinate and schedule monthly trips to Cantwell as required. Determine eligibility for patient transport requests based on the approved IHS list. Lead and administer the organization's Health and Safety Program, ensuring compliance with OSHA, CARF, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Develop, review, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, manuals, and compliance documentation. Oversee safety inspections, audits, and reporting; maintain OSHA injury and illness logs; coordinate Workers' Compensation documentation; and prepare required monthly, quarterly, and annual incident and compliance reports. Coordinate and revitalize the Health & Safety Committee, including agenda development, meeting facilitation, documentation, and follow-up to ensure organizational participation and accountability. Administer and manage the Alertus emergency notification system, including access, training, and activation of alerts and closure notices in accordance with organizational policy. Monitor weather and emergency conditions and advise executive leadership regarding facility closures when required. Participate in approved training, professional development, and conferences that support professional growth and contribute to organizational safety, operational effectiveness, and staff training initiatives, in alignment with organizational priorities and funding guidelines. Monitor organization injury/illness reports; follow up on reports, conduct investigations and submit relevant workers compensation documentation to insurance company. Compile quarterly safety reports for board presentations Plant Operations Maintenance Manager Assist Plant Operations director with projects and escort contractors as directed.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

Familiarity with all phases of building maintenance, with mechanical aptitude acquired through vocational school and/or job experience that provides a working knowledge of construction, plumbing, electrical, and heating/cooling systems. Above average problem solving, negotiating, organizational, and time management skills. Familiar with current Uniform Building Code (UBC), and federal, state, and local health and safety code requirements for buildings. Demonstrates working knowledge of workplace safety principles, regulations, and best practices to support a safe and compliant work environment. Knowledgeable in the selection and use of appropriate tools and equipment necessary to accomplish minor repairs and maintenance of buildings. Strong understanding and sensitivity to Alaska Native culture and lifestyle, with demonstrated experience working effectively with Alaska Native population.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

(Education & Experience) Associate's degree Vocational training in two or more areas (HVAC, water treatment/distribution, building/facilities maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HAZWOPER, or similar certifications). Four (4) years of broad building/facility maintenance experience, involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and/or heating/cooling systems. Two (2) years of supervisory experience. Valid Alaska Driver License, with satisfactory driving history to qualify for company insurance. Current CPR/First Aide or obtain within 90 days of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

(Education & Experience) Bachelor's degree Six (6) years of broad building/facility maintenance experience, involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and/or heating/cooling systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Works in an environment where protection of client confidentiality is essential. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided Plant Operations Maintenance Manager where/when needed.

SPECIFICATIONS

Supervision Received:

Work will be monitored through meetings, reports, and regular communication with the immediate supervisor. General guidelines for operations are based on program requirements, conditions of grant award(s), and the general policies and procedures of CRNA.

Supervision Exercised:

Position will exercise supervision of assigned staff and complete required documentation, including performance evaluations, training, and general oversight through direct reports.

Contacts include and are not limited to volunteers, organizational staff, clients, and outside agencies.
