Responsibilities Lead and motivate the service team, including service technicians and advisors, to meet or exceed performance goals. Oversee all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair services, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards. Manage workflow scheduling, prioritize repairs, and optimize shop capacity for maximum productivity. Utilize estimating software to prepare accurate repair estimates, including collision prepair, mechanical repairs, and diagnostics. Implement upselling strategies by identifying additional services that benefit customers while increasing revenue. Maintain detailed documentation of service work, including service writing, parts ordering, and client communication. Ensure excellent customer service by addressing client concerns promptly, explaining repair procedures clearly, and fostering long-term relationships. Monitor inventory levels for parts and supplies; coordinate with vendors for timely procurement. Conduct regular training sessions on automotive diagnostics, new technologies like computer-aided vehicle damage estimating, and industry best practices. Handle cash transactions accurately and maintain financial records related to service sales. Qualifications Proven experience as a Service Manager or in a similar auto service management role within a dealership or independent shop environment. Strong mechanic experience with automotive diagnostics across various systems such as transmissions, brakes, suspensions, air brakes, shocks & struts, tire services, diesel engines, oil changes, alignments, and more. Proficiency with estimating software and auto estimating tools; familiarity with computer-aided vehicle damage estimating is a plus. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients about repairs and recommendations. Knowledge of automotive repair processes including collision repair procedures and mechanical troubleshooting techniques. Ability to upsell additional services confidently while maintaining integrity and customer trust. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to drive company vehicles as needed. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in cash handling, documentation, and inventory management.
