Job Summary:

Assist Maintenance Manager / Plant Manager, in managing the maintenance and engineering department. Acts as Maintenance Manager in his/her absence. Position requires demonstration of competency for all on-the-job activities that may have a direct or indirect effect on product safety, legality, and/or quality.

Essential Functions:

• Promotes Company EEO policies, and other AAP and local work policies.
• Assists Maintenance Manager in the performance of his/her duties.
• Performs the duties of Maintenance Manager in his/her absence.
• Supervises, trains, and directs maintenance personnel.
• Set up and track all maintenance activities, costs, hours, etc. through a computerized tracking system.
• Read, understand, interpret, and implement schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Supervises and engages in installation of equipment, while reducing operating costs by assisting in the negotiation of service contracts.
• Direct the preventive maintenance program under GMP guidelines.
• Participating in customer audits as required
• Supervises and, when necessary, participate in the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
• Promotes and maintains good employee relations.
• Position is responsible for ensuring staff is fully trained in and operates within the parameters of the facility 's Security Program with regards to site and product security.
• Oversee the purchase, storage, and repair of spare parts.
• Key Area Leader in the implementation of ISO procedures
• Manage the custodial and Sanitation issues in the plant.
• Performance of other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies and other applicable operating rules, policies, and procedures.
• May be required to perform other duties not listed within the job description.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education, Training & Professional Experience:

• BS Engineering degree or related field or equivalent.
• Five to Ten years' related Maintenance & Engineering experience.
• Knowledge of PLC's, DC motors and drives a plus.
• Supervision in a Union environment is helpful.
• License as required by State, Industry, City, County (boiler, refrigeration, etc.

) May be required to possess/maintain a valid license to operate applicable heavy equipment, including forklift.

Knowledge & Employment Standards:

• Demonstrated knowledge in Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning; Refrigeration, Welding, Electronics/Electrical Equipment repair, Industrial Equipment installation, start-up repair, PLC, and DC motor and drives etc.
• Ability to distinguish color coded equipment. Must be able to hear and identify audible alarm systems. Must be able to hear, see, and identify normal and abnormal equipment status, monitor equipment operation, see panels, lights control, etc.

Physical Requirements & Abilities:

• Twenty-five percent of time spent in Office environment meetings, 75% walking, working in manufacturing or support areas, troubleshooting equipment (including the ability to tolerate heights on top of equipment and roof).

Will be subjected to normal manufacturing noises, odors, and required PPE. Must be in good physical condition.

• Normal, no adverse or hazardous conditions
• Minor travel is required. Ability to work flexible hours and holidays. On call via phone always (cell phone provided).
