(Must have food manufacturing experience) Magnolia Foods LLC, a fast-growing manufacturer of tortillas, chips, baked goods, and Latin-inspired specialties, is seeking a dependable and experienced Lead Mechanic to oversee maintenance operations during the 2nd shift. This role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of manufacturing, packaging, and facility equipment in a high-volume food manufacturing environment. Summary of Functions The Lead Mechanic is responsible for coordinating and executing maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting activities across the plant. This includes allocating resources, scheduling preventive maintenance, and guiding the technical work of other maintenance technicians. The role requires both administrative oversight and active participation in equipment servicing and problem resolution. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate maintenance activities for the 2nd shift team Allocate labor and resources to meet production and maintenance goals Perform and assist with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on manufacturing, packaging, and facility equipment Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, SQF, and other regulatory standards Minimize downtime by educating production staff on preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring adherence Complete weekly plant assignments and document tasks using maintenance tracking forms Service Ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems used in industrial applications Mentor and train new maintenance team members Inspect and measure parts using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools Diagnose issues by observing equipment, listening for irregularities, and using testing instruments Dismantle, repair, and reassemble mechanical and electrical components Fabricate replacement parts using machine shop equipment Monitor inventory levels of tools, parts, and supplies; initiate restocking as needed Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company procedures Attend technical workshops to stay current with industry standards Wear required PPE and follow lockout/tagout procedures Promote accountability by providing performance feedback to team members Assist in managing departmental labor and maximizing resource utilization Qualifications Proven experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance within a food manufacturing or industrial setting Strong leadership and team coordination skills Familiarity with refrigeration systems (Ammonia and Freon) preferred Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals Skilled in using precision measuring tools and machine shop instrumentation Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities Effective communication and documentation skills Ability to work independently and lead a team during the 1st Shift Experience in food production, processing, or packaging is essential for success in this role
