Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director of Maintenance to lead and oversee all Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) operations at our San Bernardino, CA facility.

This is a senior leadership position responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight of heavy, line, and storage maintenance activities, as well as the end-of-life disassembly and aircraft harvesting process for Boeing and Airbus aircraft.

The Director of Maintenance will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, efficiency, and FAA regulatory compliance, while leading and developing the maintenance organization.

The successful candidate will serve as a key representative of the company when working with aircraft manufacturers, vendors, regulatory agencies, customers, and other external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and direction for all MRO operations.

Ensure strict adherence to applicable FAA regulations, requirements, and company procedures.

Develop, implement, and continuously improve maintenance policies, procedures, and protocols.

Lead, manage, and develop the maintenance team while promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and technical excellence.

Monitor maintenance operations to ensure efficiency, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Oversee maintenance planning and scheduling to minimize aircraft downtime.

Coordinate with procurement to ensure the availability of required equipment, tools, parts, and materials.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with aircraft manufacturers, vendors, regulatory agencies, and other industry stakeholders.

Develop, manage, and monitor the maintenance department budget.

Establish and monitor maintenance performance metrics and provide regular reporting to senior management.

Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, quality, and overall MRO performance.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the maintenance organization.

Develop and implement comprehensive employee training and development programs.

Partner with other departments to ensure effective coordination and seamless operations.

Participate in strategic planning and business development initiatives.

Stay current with developments in aircraft maintenance technology, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 15 years of aircraft maintenance experience.

FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification required.

Proven experience in a senior-level aircraft maintenance management role.

Strong understanding of FAA regulations and aircraft maintenance requirements.

Extensive experience with Boeing and Airbus aircraft.

Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop a maintenance organization.

Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.

Experience managing maintenance budgets and operational performance.

Proficiency with aircraft maintenance software and systems.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to effectively communicate with employees, customers, vendors, manufacturers, and regulatory agencies.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding aviation maintenance environment.

Advanced degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

Requirements

Working Conditions

This position operates in an aircraft hangar, warehouse, and outdoor environment. The Director of Maintenance must be comfortable working in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid environments.

The position may involve exposure to high noise levels, chemicals, cleaning agents, and other conditions commonly associated with aircraft maintenance operations. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.

The role may require irregular working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on operational requirements.

May be required with advance notice.
