Critical Responsibilities
  • Supervising and coordinating staff and workflows within the shop
  • Schedule work to assure maximum production at all times
  • Communicate with customers on a daily basis for scheduling, pickup and deliveries
  • Communicate daily with each shift lead to assure they have their assignments and understand what needs to be achieved during their shift. Monitor the other work shifts frequently enough to assure they are achieving the goals set before them.
  • Assure that the Furnace Operators are working efficiently and effectively with the shift leads, frequently monitor their processes
  • Assure that all work processed meets / exceeds the Customers' requirements and expectations, Inspecting completed work to guarantee compliance with quality standards
  • Work with Quality Assurance Technician on morning inspection of all completed work being delivered back to customers to assure compliance to requirements.
  • Maintain discipline and professional conduct at all times
  • Resolve issues and disputes among team members, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Training and mentoring/coaching new employees and apprentices, as needed
  • Implementing and enforcing shop policies and procedures
  • Be fully familiar with the QMS, particularly with all Work Instructions and Standard Procedures
  • Assure that all records are always up to date, including PM and Maintenance records
  • Be available to participate and contribute to all required business meetings and willingly attend required training/online education as needed
  • Be available for emergency situations as well as shop checks.
  • Be flexible with reasonable notice
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Perform other duties as assigned/required.
  • Must comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
Skills Needed Technical knowledge and skills related to the manufacturing trade to supervise workers and ensure work is done correctly and efficiently. Leadership skills to oversee and manage the workforce, motivate team members, and maintain a positive work environment. Excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members, convey job expectations, and discuss job progress or issues with management. Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize job orders, and meet deadlines. Problem-solving skills to address issues that may arise during production or service processes, find the root cause and implement effective solutions. Understanding of safety procedures and regulations to ensure the health and safety of all employees and compliance with all pertinent laws. Customer service skills to interact with clients, understand their requirements, handle any complaints, and ensure customer satisfaction. Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for long periods, move around the shop floor, and handle various tools and equipment. Mechanical aptitude Ability to interpret blueprints and technical documents Heat treating experience a plus Microsoft 365 with emphasis on Excel, Outlook, Word Education/Training high school diploma Safety training 2-5 years practical manufacturing or heat treating experience is crucial in this role. 2-5 years experience in a supervisory role or leadership training can be beneficial.
