A Maintenance Planner improves workforce productivity and work quality of a maintenance organization by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning, scheduling, and coordination of labor, parts and material, and equipment access. Reports to Maintenance Manager and maintains liaison between Operations and Maintenance. Through supervision of the Maintenance Administrator, the planner is also responsible for maintenance of records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting of maintenance-related matters.

This position plays an important role in keeping the County's critical infrastructure operating safely, efficiently, and reliably by planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities for critical assets. What You'll Do As the Maintenance Planner, you will: Plan, schedule, and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities for critical departmental assets. Manage maintenance planning and scheduling activities using computerized work order and asset management systems. Develop detailed work orders identifying maintenance tasks, required materials, estimated labor hours, applicable SOPs, and staffing needs. Analyze and maintain asset databases and maintenance requirements to ensure information is accurate and current. Prepare maintenance forecasts using operational data, projected maintenance activities, schedules, and utilization rates. Coordinate with maintenance personnel to maximize equipment downtime and efficiently schedule necessary work. Prioritize maintenance activities based on asset criticality and adjust schedules to accommodate breakdowns and emergency repairs. Prepare and provide monthly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports to management. Assist with the development and administration of operations, maintenance, and capital project budgets. Monitor expenditures and forecast funding needs for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies. Support asset tracking and management utilizing GIS-based technology. Perform related duties as assigned. What We're Looking For Successful candidates should have: Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance in an industrial environment. Knowledge of wastewater treatment plant and pump station operations, maintenance, and repair. Experience managing computerized work order and asset management systems. Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, scheduling, equipment, tools, materials, and industry terminology. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple maintenance needs while responding effectively to changing operational demands. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with employees, department leadership, outside agencies, elected officials, and the public. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational and customer service skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, computerized work order management systems, and
ESRI GIS.
Ability to follow occupational safety requirements and implement appropriate safety precautions. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred. Five (5) years of mechanical experience in a wastewater treatment facility or an equivalent combination of directly related education, training, and experience. Supervisory experience involving planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others is preferred. Experience working in a union environment is preferred. Valid driver's license required. Additional Position Requirements This position involves work in both office and field environments and requires the ability to access confined spaces. The Maintenance Planner is considered an essential position and may be required to report during emergencies, including holidays and weekends.
