Director of Maintenance First United Methodist Church of Clearwater Clearwater, FL Job Details Part-time $20 - $25 an hour 12 hours ago Qualifications Equipment repair Minor facility damage repair Driver's License Power tools Hand tools Machine minor repairs Full Job Description Job Description The Director of Maintenance is responsible for helping maintain the church campus in a safe, functional, orderly, and welcoming condition. This is a hands-on, part-time position serving a church of approximately 250 members on a campus originally built in the 1950s and 1960s for a significantly larger congregation. The Director of Maintenance performs routine maintenance and small repairs within his or her capabilities, identifies facility needs requiring specialized assistance, and serves as the primary contact and liaison for third-party vendors and repair professionals. The position works under the direction of the Board of Trustees and supports responsible stewardship of the church buildings, grounds, equipment, and systems. Duties To work with the Board of Trustees, Senior Pastor, church staff, and appropriate vendors and contractors to: 1) Perform routine facility maintenance and repairs. 2) Conduct preventive maintenance and facility inspections in conjunction with other vendors. 3) Coordinate third-party vendors and repair professionals. 4) Support campus safety, readiness, and stewardship. 5) Maintain maintenance and repair records alongside the Board of Trustees. Qualifications 1. Has practical experience and demonstrated capability with general maintenance, handyman work, building repairs, or a related field. 2. Is able to perform a variety of minor repairs and routine maintenance tasks safely and effectively using common hand and power tools. 3. Understands the limits of his/her own capabilities and recognizes when work should be referred to a licensed or specialized professional. 4. Has experience working with or coordinating plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, elevator contractors, security vendors, or similar service providers preferred. 5. Demonstrates good judgment, dependability, initiative, and the ability to prioritize maintenance needs in a large, older church campus. 6. Communicates clearly with Trustees, church staff, vendors, and contractors regarding facility issues, schedules, and follow-up needs. 7. Is able to work independently with limited day-to-day supervision while following priorities and direction established by the Board of Trustees. 8. Is physically able to perform the normal functions of a maintenance position, including walking the campus, using ladders as appropriate, handling tools, and lifting or moving ordinary maintenance materials safely. 9. Has a valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred. 10. Supports the mission and ministry of First United Methodist Church and demonstrates professionalism, respect, hospitality, and a servant-hearted attitude in interactions with staff, members, visitors, and service providers.
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 10.0 - 15.0 per week
