Job Description:
The Sawmill Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent will manage mechanical maintenance at this sawmill. They must be a strong, experienced leader capable of ensuring the Mechanical Maintenance department maintains the assets of the sawmill, kilns, and planer mill, and mobile equipment to provide safe, reliable service to meet production targets in a cost-effective manner.
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience managing maintenance. Sawmill experience preferred, wood products experience acceptable. High school diploma or GED; some college preferred Excellent computer skills including MS Office and ability to manage through CMMS system Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Have excellent time management and organizational skills. Have excellent problem-solving skills. Knowledge of high production mills. Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Knowledge of precision alignment Flexibility to work on nights or weekends as needed to assist maintenance crews dedicated to night and weekend schedules
Responsibilities:
Supervises, coordinates, plans and oversees day-to-day and long-term maintenance of the mill to ensure quality work and minimal downtime in a safe and efficient manner at the mill. Attend scheduled meetings to gather and share information. Effectively communicates pertinent information to direct reports. Reports on results, gaps and needs for Mechanical Maintenance. Must be comfortable working outside in non-environmentally controlled areas Computer capability is required to best utilize the CMMS system, prepare work lists, reports and communicate via emails. Consistently resolves persistent equipment issues through application of root cause analysis, OEM utilization, problem-solving skills and teamwork with operations leaders Demonstrates a primary concern and commitment for safety, holding direct reports accountable for safe work at all times. Enforces PPE, LOTO, Hot Work and all other company safety regulations and addresses safety concerns promptly. Develops and manages skills enhancement plan for millwrights, mobile mechanics and lubricators. Ensures kitting of parts is properly performed to enable efficiency of repairs. Ensures mobile equipment is properly maintained to provide reliable service with effective cost management. Knowledgeable of Precision Maintenance concepts and practices, capable of implementing these concepts throughout the company. Participates in review of new equipment purchases, providing input as to best design and maintenance requirements needed to ensure best results for the investment. Requests quotes for parts, materials and contract services as needed, submits purchase requisitions as needed. Works to learn operations of entire mill, to aid with troubleshooting and planning for repairs.
