We Never Walk Alone This advertisement is for various maintenance positions located at Apalachee Correctional Institution in the Maintenance Department. The mission of Facilities Management and Building Construction at the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide a safe, secure, and efficient environment for staff, inmates, and visitors. This is achieved through the effective management, maintenance, and construction of correctional facilities, ensuring they meet all regulatory standards and support the department's overall mission of public safety and rehabilitation. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.JOB DUTIES
Maintenance Superintendent Plan and coordinate maintenance repairs, preventive activities, and work assignments. Inspect buildings and equipment, advising on maintenance and construction needs. Ensure proper custody and security measures for maintenance and construction squads. Maintain accurate records, prepare budgets, and manage procurement of materials. Prepare reports and effectively communicate, plan, organize, and supervise maintenance programs. Plumber Performs preventive maintenance and repairs for all plumbing systems, including LP gas supply, waste collection, and potable water. Installs, maintains, and repairs plumbing fixtures such as valves, faucets, traps, sinks, sewer lines, vents, and sanitary fixtures. Conducts tests, maintains logs, and keeps records for equipment as per Department guidelines. Repairs, replaces, and checks high- and low-pressure steam boilers, safety devices, and controls, and cleans boilers, tanks, and water heaters. Reads blueprints, plans and organizes work, prepares reports, supervises inmates, participates in departmental training, and performs other related duties as required.BENEFITS

Maintenance Superintendent- A High School Diploma (or its equivalent) and 9 years of experience in one or more of the following trades: Electronics, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, or Construction. A Technical Certification in a maintenance trade or a degree from an accredited college or university may substitute on year for year up to 4 years of experience. Plumber
- High school diploma or its equivalent and at least one (1) year of experience in the trade OR four or more years of experience in the trade (College or vocational/technical training in the above listed trade can substitute for the required experience).
- A valid Driver's license.
