Maintenance Manager Job Description The Maintenance Manager plans and coordinates all site maintenance activities, ensures that required parts are ordered and available for scheduled tasks, and closely tracks job progress from initiation through completion. This role oversees services for plant utilities, including hot oil units, air compressors, and chillers, while maintaining accurate records and promoting a safe, well-organized maintenance operation. Responsibilities Plan, schedule, and coordinate all site maintenance activities to ensure efficient and timely completion of work. Order and track parts and materials required for specific maintenance tasks to ensure availability before work begins. Monitor job progress and follow up on maintenance activities to ensure work orders are completed as planned. Coordinate maintenance work performed by outside contractors, ensuring quality, safety, and cost effectiveness. Manage millwrights in their day-to-day tasks, providing direction, support, and technical guidance. Develop and implement safe work permits in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. Conduct Tool-Box Talks as required, reinforcing safety practices and maintenance procedures. Create and maintain a safe working environment for all maintenance and production personnel. Attend safety training and meetings as required and apply safety learnings to daily operations. Assess personal protective equipment (PPE) needs for personnel and coordinate with EHS to ensure PPE availability and proper condition. Assist in maintaining and organizing the parts inventory warehouse, ensuring stocked parts are promptly reordered and available when needed. Manage the maintenance vendor pool in a cost-effective and fully transparent manner. Support the execution of work orders and planned work as set by the Maintenance Manager and Planner. Ensure required preventative and safety inspections are completed in accordance with regulatory and agency requirements. Maintain accurate records of maintenance operations and activities, including safe work permits and work orders. Attend management meetings as required and actively participate in developing solutions to identified problems. Communicate department issues and maintenance-related concerns to higher-level management when necessary. Assist with training employees on the safe and efficient performance of their jobs. Support the Engineering department as needed in the completion of projects. Perform SAP transactions as necessary, including requisitions and receipts. Provide technical expertise and guidance to millwrights and production personnel on mechanical and maintenance-related issues. Track and oversee services on plant utilities such as hot oil units, air compressors, and chillers. Essential Skills Proven experience in maintenance management, including planning and coordinating site maintenance activities. Hands-on maintenance and mechanical knowledge with the ability to provide technical guidance to millwrights and production staff. Experience with preventive maintenance programs and safety inspections. Supervisory or leadership experience in a maintenance environment, with the ability to manage and direct millwrights and contractors. Strong reporting and record-keeping skills for maintenance operations and activities. Ability to develop and implement safe work permits and support Standard Operating Procedures. High school diploma. Strong sense of responsibility with a commitment to safety and operational reliability. Good planning and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong skills in Word and Excel. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook for email and calendar management. Ability to perform SAP transactions such as requisitions and receipts (experience preferred). Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a maintenance supervisory or leadership role is highly desired. Budget management skills are preferred. Basic knowledge of electrical systems and instrumentation is preferred. Experience with SAP or similar computer data processing systems is preferred. Ability to coordinate and manage a maintenance vendor pool transparently and cost-effectively. Experience conducting safety meetings or Tool-Box Talks is beneficial. Comfort working with plant utilities such as hot oil units, air compressors, and chillers. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with management, engineering, and production teams. Work Environment This role operates in both business office and industrial plant settings, requiring work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions, including heat, cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid environments. The position involves regular standing, sitting, bending, and stooping, as well as occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. The standard schedule is first shift, Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the possibility of work outside normal hours as operational needs arise. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Baxley, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
