SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The purpose of this position is to provide overall direction and coordinion of subordine work activities within one of three major work functions (Aircraft Generion Division, and the Equipment Maintenance and the Component Repair Branches of the Aircraft Maintenance Division. All three work functions are organized with a number of subordine supervisors due to the scope, volume, and complexity of operions. The work involves the total maintenance of complex, high performance military aircraft, ranging from multi-purpose heavy, multi engine transports to the most modern sophisticed fighters and bombers. All aircraft are fully integred in and are part of the Total Force Mission of the United Stes Air Force. Occupions supervised are somewh similar, in th they all involve maintenance of assigned aircraft to ensure comb readiness; they are dissimilar in their organizional locion, as well as the functional areas, occupional series, and the diversity and complexity of systems for which each function is responsible. The occupion and nonsupervisory grade which best reflects the overall work operions supervised is Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-10. Plans the overall allocion of personnel, funding and equipment resources to the organizional segments supervised to accomplish work operions which, because of their scope, volume, complexity, operional tempo, and total force integrion must be planned on a annual or longer basis. Coordines and directs the work of units supervised. Recommends promotion or reassignment of subordine supervisors and reviews personnel actions prepared by them. Implements safety regulory requirements. Prepares for and participes in various types of readiness evaluions, inspections, mobilizion and command support exercises, and Operions Other Than War (OOTW). Performs other duties as assigned. GENERAL EXPERIENCE
: Experience or training th has provided the ability to perform the various aspects of disassembly, cleaning, lubricing, or assembling of aircraft parts, components, or subassemblies. Experience in the use of various production shop equipment, hand tools, measuring devices, power tools, and test equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must have least 36 months of experience demonstring the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments of lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establishing priorities to meet deadlines. Experience th provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstres the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communice knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situions.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
: - For positions requiring the operion of motor vehicles, candides must have a valid ste driver's license.
PHYSICAL EFFORTS
Work involves climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Requires modere to strenuous physical exertion. Lifts equipment and components weighing from 20 to 50 pounds, and may be required to lift items weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance from other workers or merials handling equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
: Works inside and outside, in inclement weher, on icy, wet and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands and in temperure extremes. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, fast actuing metal aircraft surfaces (landing gears, speed brakes, missile doors and flaps), engine noise, he blast, intake suction, roting propellers, explosive munitions, electrical voltage, cartridge actuing devices, liquid oxygen/nitrogen, fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints and solvents.
MILITARY TECHNICIAN COMPATIBILITY POSITION
Prior to placement in this position, the selected applicant must be assigned to an approprie military position and must meet the definition of a dual stus technician in accordance with 32 U
