A Maintenance Planner improves workforce productivity and work quality of a maintenance organization by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning, scheduling, and coordination of labor, parts and material, and equipment access. Reports to Maintenance Manager and maintains liaison between Operations and Maintenance. Through supervision of the Maintenance Administrator, the planner is also responsible for maintenance of records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting of maintenance-related matters.

Job Description

Maintenance PlannerPosition Overview We are seeking a Maintenance Planner to support plant operations by planning, scheduling, and coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance for production equipment and facility systems. This position works closely with maintenance personnel, vendors, and cross-functional teams to ensure maintenance activities are properly prioritized, planned, and supported with the necessary parts, materials, and documentation. Key Responsibilities Plan and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance activities for plant equipment and facilities. Receive, prioritize, and plan maintenance work orders for skilled trades personnel. Identify and set up spare parts for production and facility equipment. Coordinate with external vendors for recurring and non-recurring maintenance activities. Lead or participate in projects supporting equipment reliability and facility maintenance. Provide technical support by reviewing maintenance procedures and identifying required parts, tools, and resources. Obtain quotes and issue purchase orders for maintenance parts, materials, and services. Track maintenance parts and inventory levels to support cost control and equipment uptime. Generate maintenance reports and maintain accurate documentation. Maintain preventive maintenance records and help ensure compliance with applicable OSHA and ANSI standards. Work with maintenance and operations teams to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime. Spend approximately 30% of the time working directly on the shop floor with maintenance and production teams. Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Maintenance Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered. 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, maintenance, or a related technical environment. Mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to understand general maintenance activities. Experience or knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and related documentation. Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is a plus. Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications. Experience with CMMS, maintenance management systems, or ERP systems is preferred. Ability to work comfortably in a manufacturing environment and regularly interact with shop-floor personnel. Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and prioritization skills. Preferred Experience Preventive and predictive maintenance planning Maintenance scheduling and work order management Spare parts and MRO inventory Manufacturing or distribution operations Tooling and equipment maintenance Vendor coordination and purchasing Maintenance reporting and documentation John Deere systems or similar manufacturing/maintenance systems Knowledge of quality, safety, and manufacturing processes
