The City of Pella Electric Utility is seeking an experienced and motivated leader to serve as our Electric Operations Superintendent. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the reliable operation of the city's electric generation facilities, SCADA systems, fiber, and related utility infrastructure. The Superintendent leads generation operations, maintenance programs, compliance efforts, and long-range asset planning while supervising a team of skilled operators. This position combines technical expertise, strategic planning, and leadership responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in electric utility operations, power generation, industrial maintenance, controls and automation systems, or related fields. Experience with generation controls, SCADA systems, plant chemistry, industrial maintenance, and utility operations is highly desirable. Responsibilities include overseeing generation assets, supporting transmission and distribution operations, managing regulatory compliance programs, coordinating maintenance activities, developing capital improvement recommendations, and responding to utility emergencies. Electric Operations Superintendent (PDF) Bachelor's Degree preferred in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial technology, industrial maintenance, power generation, or a related technical field; equivalent education and experience considered. Progressive experience in electric utility generation, chemistry, system operations, industrial maintenance, controls, automation systems, SCADA systems, or related utility operations. At least five years of progressively responsible leadership, supervisory, technical management, or operational management experience in an electric utility, power generation facility, or related industrial environment. Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential job duties listed above. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand generation operations, SCADA systems, plant controls, electromechanical equipment, maintenance practices, and operational support functions to effectively provide technical leadership and resolve complex operational issues. Possession of or ability to readily obtain an Iowa Driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Residency within 30 miles of the worksite. Residency to be established within 60 days. Pre-employment drug testing required.
