Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Used Car Service Manager to lead our automotive service department dedicated to pre-owned vehicle maintenance and repairs. In this role, you will oversee daily operations, ensure exceptional customer service, and drive profitability through effective team management and technical expertise. Your leadership will ensure that our used car customers receive top-tier service, from routine maintenance to complex diagnostics, fostering trust and loyalty. Responsibilities Manage the entire used car service department, including scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction. Lead, motivate, and develop a team of service technicians, mechanics, and support staff to deliver high-quality repairs and maintenance. Oversee vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and inspections with a focus on transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, oil changes, alignments, tire services, shocks & struts, and collision repairs. Utilize estimating software to prepare accurate repair estimates and ensure proper upselling of additional services that benefit the customer while increasing revenue. Maintain thorough documentation of all service work using computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools and service writing systems. Ensure compliance with dealership policies, safety standards, and automotive industry regulations. Foster excellent client communication by explaining repair needs clearly and providing updates throughout the service process. Monitor cash handling procedures and manage parts inventory efficiently to support smooth operations. Promote a culture of continuous improvement by analyzing performance metrics and implementing best practices in auto service management. Requirements Proven experience managing an automotive service department within a dealership or independent shop environment. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on mechanic experience preferred; familiarity with automotive diagnostics is essential. Proficiency with estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools. Extensive knowledge of automotive repair procedures including transmissions, oil changes, alignments, suspension work, tire services, shocks & struts, brake repairs, collision repair, and general vehicle maintenance. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients. Demonstrated ability in auto service management with experience in sales and upselling techniques. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in estimating and documentation processes.
