The Valley View Public School District is seeking an individual to fill a full-time, Lead Workman - HVAC position.
REPORTS TO
Director of Buildings, Operations and Maintenance and Maintenance Manager
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for developing, implementing and supervising a maintenance program at the building and district level.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
: Performs functions which will develop, implement and supervise the maintenance program: Work order directives Preventative maintenance program District support measures Training of maintenance personnel. Responsible for the care of costly equipment that needs constant attention to prevent undue wear and tear, depreciation and expensive repairs. Responsible in part for the safety of students and teachers in the area where employee is working; also responsible for reporting and removing hazards and dangerous conditions that might result in accidents or fires. Responsible for effecting economies in operation by preventing the needless waste or careless use of maintenance supplies, equipment, water, electricity and fuel. Responsible for personal safety; along with fellow employees, should learn the proper and safe way to complete tasks without injury to self or others. Responsible for the maintenance on the equipment used in course of completing tasks and assigned duties. Responsible for cleaning up any debris created by the particular job being performed; responsible for replacing displaced materials or equipment. Responsible for responding to all emergencies after hours both during the week and on weekends. These emergencies may include, but are not limited to maintenance, security or fire alarm problems, and snow plowing. Responsible for all buildings and grounds being properly and adequately cared for. When necessary, other specific duties may be assigned that are in line with this job classification.
QUALIFICATIONS
Possess a broad working knowledge of maintenance, repair and construction as pertaining to school facilities in the following areas: Electrical Heating and Air Conditioning Plumbing Carpentry Masonry Welding Glass Repair and board up windows Mowing, Turf Management and Planting Grounds Maintenance Equipment. Must be service oriented with the ability to work cooperatively with others, take direction from the appropriate supervisor and provide effective leadership in performing supervisory functions. Must be familiar with the use of power tools and equipment, while being aware of safety precautions in the use of such tools and equipment. Must serve as a role model for all students and perform their duties to create an environment that is conducive to providing students an enhanced and engaged learning opportunity. Possess good character and health; must present a physical and negative TB test prior to employment start date.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is performed inside and outside; with the outside environment including exposure to inclement weather, heat and humidity. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times. Must frequently stand for long periods, and sometimes work in uncomfortable or cramped positions, need physical strength and stamina. Ability to climb in overhead structures (no fear of heights), to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The work year for this position is 251 days. The normal work schedule is eight hours shifts, with availability to work flexible hours and/or overtime when necessary.

EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the Valley View Council and the Board of Education.
