Job Description

Strategic, hands-on Manager of Facilities & Maintenance leading site-level technical maintenance, reliability and facilities teams within our parcel, large-parcel furniture, and final-mile home delivery network. You will be accountable for the availability, reliability, safety, and lifecycle management of conveyance systems, material handling equipment (MHE), automation and facility assets for your designated location. This role will also own the execution of industry-leading CMMS and preventative maintenance programs, execution of the organization's capital and repair planning projects, and partnering with site operations, engineering, and external vendors to minimize downtime and maximize throughput. A day in the life of a Facilities and Maintenance Manager... Strategic Leadership & Planning Develop and execute the site maintenance & facilities strategy aligned with business goals Ownership of strategic relationships with site specific vendors (e.g., conveyance, sortation, automation, forklifts, HVAC, electrical / mechanical contractors) as well as sourcing new vendors capable of reducing cost and improving service. Collaborate with operations to balance throughput and maintenance windows, implement condition-based and predictive maintenance strategies (vibration, thermography), and lead root-cause analysis after failures. Recruit, coach, and develop an on-site maintenance team consisting of supervisors, leads, and technicians. Establish training programs, certifications, onboarding, and performance metrics. Reliability, CMMS, & Preventative Maintenance Strategies Oversee site maintenance and reliability program for conveyors, sorters, forklifts, and other MHE used in small-parcel and large-parcel distribution environments (as applicable to your given site) Own spare-parts strategy, critical spares stocking, and vendor-managed inventory for long-lead items Ensure site adoption of selected CMMS programs, build preventative maintenance (PM) programs, work order processes, lifecycle tracking, and KPI dashboards. Automation & Controls Provide technical direction for PLC-based controls and HMI systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), coordinate with controls engineers and integrators, and manage change-control for automation updates.
Preferred:
hands-on familiarity with ladder logic, troubleshooting, and vendor programming reviews Safety, Compliance, & Vendor Management Ensure OSHA compliance, site-safety programs, contractor oversight, and regulatory inspections. Develop and manage service contracts for HVAC, fire/life safety, roofing, and specialty vendors. Maintain disaster recovery plans for critical systems, lead escalation for site outages, and coordinate cross-functional incident response. Operational & Capital Budget Management Own and be held accountable to facility maintenance OPEX and CAPEX budgets for assigned site What you'll bring to the table.. . Demonstrated hands-on experience with conveyors, sortation equipment, palletizers, forklifts and heavy MHE. Proven track record implementing or operating a CMMS and building preventative maintenance programs. Familiarity with PLCs/HMI (programming, troubleshooting) and experience working with controls engineers/integrators. Financial acumen with experience owning OPEX and CAPEX budgets. Excellent leadership, vendor management, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Ability to manage various scope initiatives, orchestrate multiple activities, and provide regular updates to Executive Leadership Ability to adapt and integrate new technology in a supply chain setting while recognizing operational necessity. Experience in innovating new processes and adapting new technology in a supply chain setting. Ability to work with cross-functional teams, influencing key stakeholders, and communicate effectively. Must be flexible with schedule and hours to oversee and respond to the needs of a 24/7 operation. Requires travel - typically 5-10% We'd love to hear from you if you have... Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or equivalent technical field (or equivalent experience). 7+ years of progressive maintenance/facilities experience in distribution, parcel, or material handling environments, with at least 5 years in a hands-on technician / mechanic role. Hands-on PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley/Siemens) or formal PLC training. Experience in final-mile delivery hub environments or large-furniture distribution centers. Experience managing teams across multiple shifts and onboarding new or retrofitted automation lines
