Job Description

Under supervision of the Operations Superintendent with daily direction from the Street and/or Forestry Foremen, Operations Foreman and Senior Street Maintenance persons, performs a variety of operations relating to street division duties. Does related work as required including operation of all equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Participates in construction & maintenance projects for city streets and properties Snow plowing, hauling and leaf collection & disposal Follows safety regulations and safety policies. Complies with work rules in the performance of duties. Inspects and tests equipment to verify conformance with safety guidelines Operates end loaders, backhoes, excavators, dump trucks, rollers, mowers, as well as limb chipper, power saws, and various tree trimming equipment Responds to citizen complaints and after hour service requests, as well as being subject to emergency call-in for operational or weather emergencies Other duties as assigned High School Diploma or GED. Valid Driver's License and good driving record. Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License, with Air Brake Endorsement or the ability to obtain permit within 90 days of employment Construction experience related to Civil Engineering projects a plus Strong knowledge of safe practices for construction work Skilled in the operation and maintenance of assigned equipment Must be able to meet the physical demands of this position which include sitting, standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. May also demand occasional lifting up to 50 pounds Starting rate for this position is $23.89/hour with an excellent benefit package that includes health, dental, vision, & life insurance, paid time off, plus an IMRF pension
