Job Description

Job Overview:
Martin Transportation Systems (MTS) is seeking an experienced Working Shop Foreman for our Springfield, IL terminal. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for overseeing a three-shift maintenance operation while actively performing repairs and maintenance on tractors and trailers. Standard day shift hours apply, with responsibility for supporting all shifts. Responsibilities Supervise and support a three-shift maintenance operation. Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers. Coordinate shop workflow to maximize equipment uptime. Manage parts inventory and maintain accurate inventory records. Monitor maintenance costs, including tires and equipment repairs. Ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Work collaboratively with operations and drivers to meet fleet maintenance needs. Required Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of diesel mechanic experience.
Experience working with:
Cummins engines Detroit engines
Knowledge of:
Tractor and trailer maintenance Tire specifications, maintenance, and cost management Fleet maintenance cost control Inventory management Proficient with Microsoft Outlook. Basic Microsoft Excel skills. Preferred Qualifications Transportation or automotive management experience. Knowledge of OSHA and DOT compliance requirements. Skills & Attributes Strong verbal and written communication skills. Professionalism in employee leadership and customer service. Proven track record of success and achievement. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic. Independent thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities. High energy, initiative, and a desire to succeed.
