Job Description

Reports to: Director Hours per week: 37.5 (full-time) Base pay is $17.50 per hour and is commensurate with abilities and experience. This position supervises maintenance staff, schedules maintenance activities, oversees library cleaning and maintenance duties, manages internal and external material deliveries, handles trash removal, maintains external grounds, and maintains library vehicles.
QUALIFICATIONS
A high school diploma or the equivalent Excellent verbal communication and the ability to maintain composure and friendliness under pressure Dependability; ability to organize work, multi-task, and exercise good judgment Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings and Saturdays Must have personality, attitude, and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and staff members in a professional manner
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 70 lbs. Very good mobility needed. Ability to stand, walk, reach, hold, carry, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and climb a ladder. Must have a valid driver's license.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for work related to maintenance of the library building, including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and custodial. Determines material, equipment, and supplies to be used Schedules exterior facility and grounds maintenance Orders and maintains an inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies Coordinates the cleaning of rooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and stairways. This includes sweeping and mopping the floors, vacuuming rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture, and dusting furniture, woodwork, and equipment Responsible for trash removal Responsible for ensuring that the sidewalks and entrances are clear from snow and ice Does general repairs such as painting, patching walls, security hardware, hanging shelves, etc. Coordinates or inspects, operates, and maintains the heating, cooling, and ventilation system Responsible for performing or scheduling library vehicle maintenance
Additional Responsibilities:
Follows all applicable safety rules and procedures Helps maintain a safe and secure building Performs other reasonable duties as required Assists other staff during fire and weather-related drills and emergencies
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Ability to maintain good relations with library staff members, patrons, and vendors/contractors Ability to communicate with staff and patrons cooperatively and courteously Strong computer skills including the use of email, word processing, and other basic office software and the internet Ability to perform various clean-up and maintenance tasks as needed Ability to update inventories and other supplies as needed Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties Good supervisory skills Must be able to drive vehicles in all weather conditions safely. Good driving record
Training, Education, and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required. Two years' experience in general maintenance or other maintenance responsibilities required. Advanced education or training in general maintenance and repair preferred
Work Environment:
Works in all areas of the library building. Works in confined spaces. Works outside in varying weather conditions. Works in cramped body positions to perform maintenance and repairs. Exposure to equipment where risk exists of getting burned, bruised, or scraped. Contact with oil and petroleum products. Exposure to solvents, gases, and fumes.

From $17.50 per hour
