Job Title:
Maintenance Lead Job Description The Maintenance Lead oversees and supports plant maintenance activities to ensure reliable operation of manufacturing and facility equipment. This role coordinates mechanics and electricians, plans and executes mechanical and electrical maintenance, and drives continuous improvement in equipment performance, safety, and efficiency. The Maintenance Lead maintains critical records, troubleshoots complex issues, and helps create a safe, respectful, and high-performing work environment. Responsibilities Coordinate and control daily activities of plant maintenance mechanics and facility maintenance personnel. Work closely with plant and maintenance leadership to assign individual projects, tasks, and priorities for mechanics and electricians. Assist electricians and engineers with routine tasks and technical support as needed. Plan and provide mechanical equipment maintenance for manufacturing and building systems to reduce delays, costs, and breakdowns. Execute preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability. Carry out preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, and project-related work orders for plant machinery and equipment. Respond promptly to repair and parts requests to maintain all machinery at the highest level of integrity and performance. Assist in maintaining and organizing the spare parts inventory to support timely repairs and maintenance. Determine plant machinery needs and requirements and communicate necessary repairs and adjustments to maintenance and production supervisory personnel. Partner with shift supervisors to identify problems and implement solutions that minimize equipment downtime and slow time. Participate in root cause analysis exercises to eliminate recurring downtime events and improve long-term equipment performance. Provide input on preventive and predictive maintenance strategies and condition-based maintenance programs. Support engineering and production departments in developing and executing ideas to improve products, machinery, and manufacturing methods. Maintain accurate records, including work orders, standard operating procedures (SOPs), lockout/tagout (LOTO) documentation, confined space records, and other maintenance-related documentation. Lead by example in adherence to company policies, including safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment. Contribute to a positive work environment where all employees work safely and respectfully with one another. Essential Skills Proven experience as a maintenance technician or lead in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance skills, including troubleshooting and repair of industrial equipment. Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics systems. Ability to perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on plant machinery and facility equipment. Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting and electrical troubleshooting for production equipment. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings. Experience with motors, drives, and related electrical components. Practical welding skills for equipment repair and fabrication as needed. Strong industrial troubleshooting skills to quickly diagnose and resolve equipment issues. Ability to maintain detailed maintenance records, including work orders, SOPs, LOTO procedures, and confined space documentation. Commitment to safety practices and proper use of personal protective equipment. Ability to collaborate effectively with mechanics, electricians, engineers, and production personnel. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a warehouse and factory setting with heavy industrial equipment. Comfort with participating in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives. Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance tasks and projects in a fast-paced production environment. Strong communication skills to coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and production teams. Attention to detail in planning maintenance activities and documenting work performed. Work Environment This role operates in a warehouse and factory environment with active production equipment. The position requires regular standing, walking, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. You will occasionally sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and communicate with team members. The role involves regularly lifting and moving at least 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds. Work is performed on 12-hour shifts with rotating schedules: first shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on a 3-on/4-off, 4-on/3-off rotation, and third shift runs from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on the same rotating pattern. Personal protective equipment is used in accordance with safety policies appropriate for an industrial manufacturing setting. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Greenwood, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $88691.20 - $88691.20/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
