Maintenance Supervisor DoubleTree by Hilton South Bend - 5.0 South Bend, IN Job Details Full-time $22 - $25 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description Engineering Supervisor The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Downtown South Bend is looking for an experienced Engineering Supervisor to join our team! Our 9-story, full-service hotel features a glass atrium and is located in the heart of downtown South Bend. The property includes Baker's Bar & Grill, Starbucks, approximately 15,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, an indoor pool and fitness center, guest rooms, public areas, and extensive building systems that require consistent preventive maintenance and oversight. The Engineering Supervisor will assist in leading the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department while remaining hands-on with maintenance and repairs throughout the property. This position is ideal for someone with strong technical skills who can also provide direction, organization, and support to the Engineering team.
Pay:
Competitive hourly rate based on experience, technical knowledge, and applicable licenses/certifications. Job Responsibilities Assist with supervising and directing the daily activities of the Engineering/Maintenance team. Assign, prioritize, and follow up on work orders and preventive maintenance projects. Maintain the physical functionality, appearance, and safety of the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, pool, exterior, and mechanical spaces. Perform and oversee repairs involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, mechanical equipment, and general building maintenance. Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance concerns and departmental work orders. Conduct routine property inspections and identify maintenance, safety, and preventive maintenance needs. Assist in maintaining an effective preventive maintenance program for hotel equipment and building systems. Troubleshoot equipment failures and determine when repairs can be completed in-house or require an outside contractor. Monitor equipment, mechanical systems, and utility readings as required. Maintain appropriate inventory levels of commonly used parts, tools, and maintenance supplies. Ensure repairs and completed work are properly documented and communicated. Assist with coordinating outside vendors and contractors when necessary. Support compliance with hotel safety standards, emergency procedures, and applicable codes. Provide guidance and hands-on training to Engineering team members. Communicate effectively with the Front Desk and hotel leadership regarding maintenance concerns, room status, emergencies, and major repairs. Assist with emergency situations and after-hours maintenance needs as required. Maintain organized, clean, and safe engineering work areas. Perform other duties and projects as assigned. Qualifications & Job Skills Strong knowledge of general building maintenance and repair. Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general construction systems. Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine appropriate repair solutions. Ability to read specifications, instructions, equipment manuals, and basic technical information. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple work orders and projects. Ability to lead by example and work effectively with team members and other hotel departments. Strong attention to safety and preventive maintenance. Ability to use hand and power tools safely. Ability to lift and move maintenance materials and equipment. Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, reach, and work in mechanical areas. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Hotel or commercial building maintenance experience strongly preferred. Previous supervisory or lead maintenance experience preferred. Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. Technical or trade school education is a plus. Licenses/Certifications Applicable trade licenses and certifications are highly valued and may impact the starting rate of pay, including relevant HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pool, refrigeration, or other building maintenance certifications. EPA certification and/or CPO certification are preferred but not required. Compensation will be dependent upon experience, qualifications, and applicable certifications.
