Job Description
Head Building Engineer (12 month, 40 plus hours/week)
Floating Position:
Goddard USD 265 is seeking a skilled and experienced Head Building Engineer to oversee maintenance, operations, and custodial services across our school facilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating building-level maintenance, supervising custodial staff, and ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained educational environment. This position will support the current Building Engineers and be next in line to be a Head Building Engineer. Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate custodial personnel, assigning and inspecting work to meet district standards
- Manage building maintenance, including heating, cooling, plumbing, and audio-visual systems
- Perform and oversee minor repairs, equipment maintenance, and safety inspections
- Train and lead custodial staff in proper cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and equipment usage
- Coordinate pest control, supply management, and emergency maintenance
- Ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations
- Operate and maintain various custodial and maintenance equipment Qualifications
- High school diploma
- 3-5 years of experience in custodial and maintenance work
- Valid Kansas driver's license
- 16 hours of asbestos training
- Computer literacy for operating automated heating, cooling, and building systems
- Strong leadership and training skills
- Ability to perform plumbing and electrical system maintenance
- Knowledge of chemical mixing and cleaning procedures Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions
- Mobility to access remote building areas, climb ladders, and navigate tight spaces
- Capacity to lift, push, and pull heavy equipment
