Job Title:
Maintenance Supervisor Job Description The Maintenance Supervisor leads and coordinates the daily activities of the maintenance team to ensure high equipment reliability, maximum production uptime, and a safe working environment. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines direct involvement in maintenance repairs with effective delegation, coaching, and oversight of technician performance and productivity. The role works closely with a maintenance manager, who handles much of the administrative and documentation responsibilities, while the supervisor focuses on day-to-day operations and keeping the team engaged, productive, and on task. Responsibilities Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team to support safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. Actively participate in hands-on maintenance repairs, troubleshooting, and equipment adjustments as needed. Delegate maintenance tasks effectively to technicians based on skills, priorities, and operational needs. Monitor technician performance and productivity, ensuring team members stay engaged, on task, and fully utilized. Prioritize and schedule maintenance work to minimize downtime and maximize production uptime. Support and enforce the use of preventive maintenance programs and maintenance management systems (CMMS). Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production equipment. Collaborate with the maintenance manager on maintenance plans, resource allocation, and continuous improvement initiatives. Promote and maintain a safe work environment by following and reinforcing safety procedures and best practices. Communicate clearly with production and other departments regarding maintenance activities, equipment status, and expected completion times. Assist in training, coaching, and guiding technicians to improve technical skills and work quality. Document maintenance activities accurately in the maintenance management system as required. Essential Skills 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience. 2+ years of maintenance leadership, lead technician, or supervisory experience. Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills in an industrial environment. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including working with industrial electrical systems. Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems and their troubleshooting. Proven ability to lead technicians, delegate assignments, and manage priorities effectively. Experience with preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Strong communication skills for coordinating with technicians and other departments. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve equipment issues efficiently. Demonstrated experience in maintenance management, supervision, and industrial maintenance operations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to weld. Any formal leadership training or supervisory development coursework. Experience in lead maintenance roles or similar positions with oversight responsibilities. Familiarity with maintenance management systems and related reporting tools. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role operates in both an office setting and on the production floor, with regular use of tools and industrial equipment. You will spend time at a desk managing priorities and coordinating work, as well as on the floor performing and overseeing hands-on maintenance activities. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is an hourly position, with the expectation of additional hours as needed to support operational demands. The environment includes typical industrial conditions, such as working around machinery, equipment, and production processes, and requires appropriate work attire and adherence to safety procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
