We are seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations in a fast-paced food manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, fabrication, and the development of strong maintenance systems and procedures. The ideal candidate has significant experience managing maintenance employees and at least 10 years of industrial maintenance experience within food manufacturing or food processing environments. This person should be comfortable working directly on equipment when needed while also developing the team, systems, SOPs, preventive maintenance programs, and accountability necessary to improve equipment uptime and overall plant reliability. Key Responsibilities Lead, supervise, train, and develop maintenance technicians and other maintenance personnel. Manage daily maintenance priorities, work assignments, emergency repairs, and preventive maintenance activities. Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, refrigeration-related, and controls issues on industrial production equipment. Develop and maintain a strong preventive and predictive maintenance program. Create, document, and improve maintenance SOPs, PM procedures, troubleshooting guides, and equipment records. Improve equipment uptime, reliability, and maintenance response times. Identify recurring equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions rather than repeated temporary repairs. Manage maintenance parts inventory, critical spare parts, vendors, contractors, and outside service providers. Support installation, commissioning, modification, and improvement of production equipment. Fabricate, modify, weld, and build equipment components or production improvements when appropriate. Work closely with Production, Operations, QA/Food Safety, Warehouse, and Sanitation teams. Ensure maintenance activities comply with food safety, GMP, OSHA, lockout/tagout, and company safety requirements. Support facility infrastructure including refrigeration/freezer systems, electrical systems, compressed air, plumbing, and general building maintenance. Maintain an organized maintenance shop, parts inventory, documentation system, and maintenance schedule. Participate in capital equipment planning and recommend equipment upgrades or replacements when needed. Equipment Experience Candidates should have strong experience maintaining a broad range of industrial food manufacturing and packaging equipment, including several of the following: Industrial cooking kettles and skillets Continuous conveyor fryers Blast freezers and industrial refrigeration systems Freezer warehouses and cold-storage equipment Industrial forming, extrusion, depositing, or dough-processing equipment Vertical form-fill-seal baggers Multihead or industrial weigh scales Conveyors and material handling systems Cartoners and case-packaging equipment Box erectors and sealing equipment Forklifts and warehouse equipment Motors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, valves, and drives Pneumatic and hydraulic systems Sensors, switches, relays, VFDs, and basic PLC-controlled equipment Stainless-steel fabrication, welding, and equipment modification Required Qualifications Minimum 10 years of industrial maintenance experience in food manufacturing, food processing, or a closely related manufacturing environment. Significant experience supervising or managing maintenance technicians. Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair capabilities. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills in an industrial environment. Experience developing preventive maintenance programs and maintenance SOPs. Ability to diagnose problems quickly and make sound decisions during production downtime. Experience with fabrication, welding, and equipment modification. Strong understanding of food manufacturing sanitation and GMP requirements. Working knowledge of OSHA safety requirements, including lockout/tagout. Ability to read electrical schematics, equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation. Comfortable working in production, freezer, warehouse, and maintenance environments. Ability to work hands-on alongside the maintenance team when necessary. Preferred Qualifications Experience in USDA- or FDA-regulated food manufacturing. Experience with automated food forming, filling, extrusion, or depositing equipment. Experience with industrial refrigeration and blast-freezing systems. Experience with automated packaging lines. PLC troubleshooting experience. Experience building or improving a CMMS or computerized preventive maintenance system. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
