Position:
Full Time Maintenance Supervisor Reports to:
Superintendent Starting Date:
A.S.A.P.
Necessary Qualifications:
Burr Oak Community School District is seeking a dedicated, highly dependable Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor to oversee and execute the daily cleaning, custodial care, groundskeeping, and general maintenance of all district facilities. The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to maintain high operational and safety standards with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities & Duties Facility Care & Custodial Supervision:
Execute and oversee comprehensive cleaning protocols across all district classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, and athletic facilities.
Chemical & Equipment Management:
Safely handle, store, and apply cleaning chemicals and supplies according to SDS safety standards; proficiently operate industrial cleaning equipment (auto-scrubbers, buffers, carpet extractors).
Groundskeeping & Lawn Operations:
Safely operate commercial mowers, tractors, snowplows, trimmers, and other lawn and winter maintenance equipment to keep school grounds safe and well-maintained.
Routine Maintenance & Repairs:
Perform light repairs, preventative maintenance, and routine building checks across district facilities.
Independent Leadership:
Demonstrate flexibility, prioritize daily operational needs, and execute tasks independently with high initiative and minimal direct supervision.
Positive School Community Environment:
Model high moral character, maintain positive working relationships with staff, administration, students, and community members, and support school events as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
Demonstrated professional experience in custodial, cleaning operations, building maintenance, or groundskeeping (supervisory experience preferred).
Work Ethic & Dependability:
Proven track record of consistent attendance, strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform heavy physical labor, including lifting 100 lbs or more , standing for extended periods, climbing ladders, and working in varied weather conditions.
Character & Collaboration:
Excellent health, high moral character, professional integrity, and the proven ability to work collaboratively with others.
Background Check:
Successful clearance of a comprehensive criminal background check (State/FBI fingerprinting) as required by Michigan law for public school employees.
Working Conditions & Benefits Schedule:
Full-time year-round position; flexible hours based on district needs, seasonal demands, and emergency weather responses.
Compensation:
Hourly rate/salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Benefits:
Full district benefits package including health insurance coverage, paid time off (sick leave/vacation), and retirement system options. Daily tasks will include but are not limited to restroom cleaning, vacuuming, lawn maintenance, dust mopping, second shift during the school year and first shift during summer break.
