Job Description

Job Summary

Fresh Air Aviation is a well-established Part 135 operator based in beautiful Northern Michigan. As we continue to grow, we are expanding our maintenance department and looking for an experienced A&P Mechanic interested in advancing into an Assistant Director of Maintenance role.

Fresh Air Aviation operates a growing fleet of twin-engine aircraft, currently including Beech Queen Airs and Partenavia P.68s. Our operation provides year-round passenger and freight service, with a particular focus and expertise in serving Northern Michigan's island communities.

We are looking for someone who wants more than simply turning wrenches—someone interested in becoming an important part of our operation, taking on increased responsibility, and helping shape the continued development of our maintenance department.

The Position

As Assistant Director of Maintenance, you will work closely with our current Director of Maintenance to ensure company aircraft are maintained in an airworthy condition and to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and workmanship.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Assist the Director of Maintenance with oversight of aircraft maintenance and inspections
  • Perform and coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
  • Troubleshoot aircraft and support day-to-day operational maintenance needs
  • Help ensure continued compliance with FAA regulations and requirements applicable to our Part 135 operation
  • Maintain accurate aircraft maintenance records and documentation
  • Assist with maintenance planning, parts coordination, and aircraft scheduling
  • Help develop and improve efficient maintenance procedures and practices
  • Coordinate with pilots, management, vendors, and other maintenance personnel as needed
  • Assume increasing responsibility within the maintenance department as experience and familiarity with our operation grows
  • This is a position with real opportunity for professional growth and advancement. We are looking for someone who will bring their own ideas and experience to the department and who wants the opportunity to make the position their own.
  • Benefits & Perks
Fresh Air Aviation offers a competitive benefits package for eligible employees, including:

Paid vacation - up to 40 hours accrued in the first year and up to 80 hours in the second year

Paid sick time based on hours worked

Health insurance with a company contribution toward monthly premiums; dental and vision coverage also available

SIMPLE IRA

retirement plan with up to a 3% company match

Holiday premium pay for eligible holidays worked

Flexible scheduling options

Opportunity for continued professional development and advancement

Why Northern Michigan?

If you enjoy aviation but also value quality of life outside of work, Northern Michigan has a lot to offer.

Our area provides a small-town, country setting surrounded by some of Michigan's best outdoor recreation. Boating, fishing, hunting, hiking, skiing, snowmobiling, biking, and countless other outdoor activities are all close by.

Fresh Air Aviation has a close-knit staff passionate about aviation and the mission at hand. Because we are a smaller operation, your contribution matters—you'll have the opportunity to be directly involved in the operation, solve problems, improve processes, and see the impact of your work.

If you're an experienced A&P who is ready to take the next step in your career and are looking for a position where you can grow, take ownership, and play an important role in a successful aviation company, we'd like to hear from you.

Requirements

Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate
