Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Service Manager to lead our automotive service department with enthusiasm and expertise. This pivotal role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining the highest standards of vehicle repair and maintenance. As a Service Manager, you will motivate your team, optimize workflow, and drive customer satisfaction through effective communication and technical knowledge. Your leadership will ensure our service department runs smoothly, efficiently, and profitably, fostering a positive environment for both staff and clients. Responsibilities Manage all aspects of the service department, including scheduling, workflow coordination, and quality control to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction. Lead and motivate a team of service technicians by providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure high-quality automotive repairs. Oversee vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance procedures such as oil changes, brake repairs, alignments, suspension work, tire services, transmission repairs, diesel engine repairs, shocks & struts, air brake systems, and collision repair. Utilize estimating software to prepare accurate repair estimates and facilitate effective upselling of additional services or parts to clients. Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications while maintaining a focus on quality control. Communicate clearly with customers regarding their vehicle's condition, repair options, and costs; handle client concerns professionally to foster trust and loyalty. Oversee administrative tasks including service writing, cash handling, parts ordering, inventory management, and maintaining detailed service records. Promote a culture of continuous improvement by analyzing department performance metrics and implementing process enhancements. Experience Proven experience in automotive service management or auto dealership leadership roles with a strong background in auto repair shop operations. Extensive mechanic experience with hands-on knowledge of automotive diagnostics across various systems such as transmissions, brakes, suspensions, air brakes, alignments, tire services, diesel engines, shocks & struts. Familiarity with estimating software tools used for auto estimating and service writing processes. Demonstrated ability in upselling additional services confidently while maintaining excellent customer relationships. Strong understanding of automotive repair procedures including collision repair techniques and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating systems. Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team leadership; ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; willingness to drive company vehicles when necessary.
