Job Description
Job Summary
On behalf of our partner company, Freeman Jet, LLC., we are seeking an experienced Aircraft Restoration & Maintenance Lead to oversee and drive a complex 12 - 24 month Grumman Albatross aircraft restoration and maintenance project. In this role, you will lead a dedicated team of technicians, blend hands-on craftsmanship with project management, and ensure all work adheres to the highest standards of safety, quality, and FAA regulatory compliance.

Requirements
Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned as required by management)
Team Leadership & Supervision:
Direct, mentor, and supervise a team of A&P mechanics and structures technicians in daily restoration and maintenance operations.
Delegate tasks based on individual strengths, track project progress, and manage shop floor workflow.
Update the project board to reflect milestones and objectives
Foster a culture of safety, quality craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.
Project Management & Execution:
Serve as the primary technical and operational lead for the restoration, overhaul, and modification project.
Develop project timelines, set milestone goals, monitor budgets, and ensure resources are aligned to meet delivery schedules.
Work with the team to source, order, negotiate, and track rare, obsolete, or long-lead restoration components, raw materials, and hardware.
Hands-on Restoration & Maintenance:
Oversee complex structural repairs, sheet metal fabrication, component overhauls, and system installations.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, structural repair manuals (SRMs), blueprint schematics, and technical specifications.
Conduct thorough inspections and troubleshoot complex mechanical, structural, or systems issues during the restoration process.
Ensure all maintenance and restoration work complies with FAA regulations, airworthiness directives, and company standards.
Oversee proper documentation, logbook entries, sign-offs, and discrepancy sheets.
Collaborate with inspectors to ensure work passes rigorous quality standards prior to return to service.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Required
5-10 years of experience as an A&P mechanic.
Experience supervising two or more line maintenance technicians
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to delegate effectively and motivate a team under project deadlines.
Ability to read & understand technical manuals, drawings, and reference material.
Proven ability to manage project schedules, coordinate cross-functional tasks, and keep team members focused on project goals.
Must be a self-starter, able to work with little to no guidance.
Must have your own tools and toolbox.
Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Preferred
Radial engine experience
Sheet metal fabrication experience
Structural repair & modification, experience.
Pay Rate:
$100k - $175k depending on experience and technical ability.
